I actually thought about the stereotyping of Italians when I read the article. But there is, I think, an important difference here. No one used the stereotyping of Italians as an excuse to try to destroy them as a people.

Well not for too long. But there was a definite impact. I have multiple Italian friends but zero Italian relatives.
