I have. Endless delays into the evening (from an early afternoon flight) resulting in a final cancellation in the early AM making it pointless to try and get a hotel.
They have no contingency plans and they don’t care. Every major airport should be required to have an area to setup cots so people have somewhere to sleep, with at least sandwiches and water. This is not much to ask.
Watching the elderly sleeping on the terminal floor with full lights, TV audio, and cleaning crews coming through - putting vacuums up to peoples HEADS - was completely unacceptable. I was told that “this doesn’t happen very often”. Maybe at THIS airport but somewhere, every day, this is happening. There should be uniform plans on how to handle it. They treat people like cattle and get to go home while they leave their customers in awful situations.
Something should be done, some regulation for simple and inexpensive solutions.
My daughter recently had this. She had an unscheduled layover. I think it was New York. She planned to just crash in the terminal but security kicked everyone out of the terminal and made them sleep on the floor at baggage claim.
Of course there were lights, TV blaring etc all night. Baggage claim is also a non-secure environment unlike the terminal.
“Something should be done, some regulation for simple and inexpensive solutions.”
Yeah. lets get the government involved for “simple and inexpensive solutions”. LOL.
