SIERRA VISTA — In hopes of “building relationships, one cup at a time,” Brian A. Terry Station Border Patrol is hosting its first-ever “Coffee with a Cop” event on Wednesday.

From 8 to 10 a.m., area residents are invited to join agents from the Tucson Sector at Brews Brothers Coffee, located at 4023 E. Ramsey Road in Sierra Vista.

“We held one about a month ago at Dunkin’ Donuts on 22nd in Tucson,” said Border Patrol Agent and Public Information Officer Stephanie Dixon. “It (the event) went well. We had about four agents there — all with different backgrounds — and a dozen or so came to speak with us.”

Following the trend of many local law enforcement agencies — throughout the region and country — Patrol Agent in Charge Mike Hyatt said the hope of the event is to provide an opportunity to have a conversation about issues that matter most to local residents.

“We’re always committed to fostering a positive relationship here and we’re hoping this is another step in doing that,” he said.

In preparation for the event, agents out of Tucson touched base with officers from Phoenix Police Department and agents out of the Brian A. Terry Station communicated with local law enforcement. The Coffee with a Cop is part of a national campaign of events that looks to connect community members with law enforcement to talk over issues and learn more about each other. The concept first kicked off in Hawthorne, California in 2011. Since then, events similar to that one have been held all over the country.

“While the Border Patrol is dedicated to reducing illegal activity in and near border communities, we’re also dedicated to fostering relationships with the community and having an open dialogue about issues as they pertain to the border and area we live in,” Hyatt said.

I know this is probably a good idea BUT... I just had to chuckle and think this is just an excuse to sit and drink coffee and eat donuts. LOL!

“In hopes of building relationships, one cup at a time”

Relationships that the Obama regime along with the media systematically destroyed over the course of 8 years which resulted in multiple cop assassinations all across the country. Sending White house reps to the funeral of a robber and attempted cop killer, and then honoring the mother of that attempted cop killer at the Democratic national convention, incredible. And the left has the effin GALL to say Trump is mentally unfit? F THEM! How much more mentally unfit can you be than taking the sides of thugs and making cops out to be the bad guys? You want mentally unfit take a look at the FBI, take a look at James Comey who stood with Hillary, a woman who had her husband pardon FALN terrorists who killed and maimed cops. The guy is in law enforcement and THAT is who he stood by and protected?

A local Mom and Pop coffee shop started doing similar with the local cops a while back - community relations is a good thing and it should be noted that the owners of the shop are solid Christian/Conservative/2nd Amendment supporters - not odd at all to see a weapon or two among the customers.
