Keanu Reeves to produce and appear in John Wick spin-off series on Starz

John Wick: Chapter 3 doesn't hit theaters until 2019, but fans can catch Keanu Reeves' ex-hitman in Starz's small-screen spin-off of the successful franchise called The Continental.

'You can expect to see him at some point of the series,' Starz programming head Carmi Zlotnik said Friday at the TCA winter press tour - according to Deadline.

The evergreen 53-year-old will also executive produce the show centered around the Continental Hotel, the JW unverse's refuge for Los Angeles' criminal underworld.

Producer-writer Chris Collins (Sons of Anarchy, The Wire, The Man in the High Castle) pens The Continental and serves as showrunner.

Original director Chad Stahelski - a former stuntman - will helm the premiere.

John Wick films are rare high notes in the modern action movie genre so this is quite exciting for me. The world it creates is fascinating with its underground assassin economy and rules of conduct. Lots of content to build an interesting series upon if Starz can pull it off.

I’ve always liked him. He seems to be a person of deep feeling who nevertheless doesn’t ‘wear it on his sleeve’.

He may not be the greatest actor; but he’s a very thoughtful one.
