Pope Francis on Saturday urged Latin Americas faithful to fight rampant violent crime against women including murder, while holding mass in Trujillo, Perus largest northern city.
I wish to invite you to combat a plague across our Latin American region: the numerous cases of violent crimes against women, from beatings to rape to murder, the visiting pontiff told thousands in Trujillos main colonial-era square.
Half of the 25 countries with the greatest number of murders of women are in Latin America, according to UN Women. In Argentina, the popes homeland, there were at least 254 murders of women in 2016 that authorities think were gender related, which helped spark the online campaign #NotOneMore murder.
There are so many cases of violence that stay silenced behind so many walls, Francis said, arousing cheers from the crowd. Im calling on you to fight against this source of suffering including legislation and a culture that rejects every type of violence.

Not a bad request.
But perhaps it should follow a request by the Pope for no more gay priests that boink alter boys and anything else that gets within range.
Is he sporting a “#me2” on the back of the papal garb?
Next he'll be urging people to follow the Ten Commandments.
There’s no “War on Women.” That is another Delusional Lying Leftist lie.
But there IS MOST CERTAINLY a war on men.
I wish to invite the Catholic Church to dump the ImPopester.
But yet refuses to denounce islam...
Hillary for First Pope \o/
I suppose I may have missed it, but I did not see any reference to “War on Women” in the article.
Does that include altar boys as well?
Pass laws and then tell followers to ignore other laws? No walls....but the pope has a wall. Yo, pope, I'm getting mixed signals here.
How about railing against murder? Why just women? Why is he a hypocrite and not condemning what muzzies do?
Is he still Pope? Isn’t it time for a new one?
Well, I’m convinced. :)
That ought to do the trick. Just him saying this, I suppose the index of crime will drop 50%. Maybe he should have said this before. Peru puts a LOT of trust in the Pontifice.
“Violence Against Women” is part of the agenda of the fake War on Women.
Really? I did not know that. I thought reducing violence against women was in all of our interests.
And he's aware that Muzzies have permisision to beat and kill their wives at will.
