It was purported to be a secret, "old" plan, by Jews, on how they would "take over the world".
They didn't need an internet, smart phones, nor 24 hour T.V. cable "news" stations...this crap spread like wildfire! It played on ancient ( from the Middle Ages ) European anti-Semitism and scapegoating the Jews for ever crime and ill there was.

It’s interesting because modern Russia has made such a point of using its defeat of Hitler in the Second World War as a moral rallying cry behind its latest geopolitical endeavors: including propping up anti-Semite Bashar Assad in Syria.
Even people in the West have bought the “Russia as hero” in the Middle East narrative, not understanding the recent historical context of the country’s involvement in the region and its contribution to the very Islamic terrorist threat Russia claims its at the forefront of fighting against. Yep, right. KGB also destroyed the whole stock of Qurans known for teaching peace and love before 1978 and then replaced it with a cooked Jew-hating version. All hundred million Qurans. Say it isn’t true and you are a Putinista and a Stalinist /s.

You don’t need disinformation to make Muslims hate Jews.
Although McCain might already have a dossier from some credible source incriminating Putin and Merkel in hacking Quran from their basement in East Berlin in 1978 which made Muslims do the stuff they do ever since and retroactively too. It also consists undeniable allegations of Trump being in coordination with them on it.
