Motor1 ^ | 18 Feb, 2018 | ANTHONY ALANIZ

Posted on 02/18/2018 8:08:09 PM PST by DUMBGRUNT

It’s an electric supercar from Japan that packs some serious performance and technology. The video, from Gigazine on YouTube, shows the Owl hitting 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in just 1.9 seconds. That’s quicker than what Tesla is claiming for the new Roadster, which Tesla says hits 60 mph (96 kph) in 1.9 seconds. The speed run begins at the 1:06 mark in the video above with verification of the car’s supercars at the 3:17 mark.

" . . shows the Owl hitting 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in just 1.9 seconds."

And just how is that relevant to the average driver?

Yeah, I don’t think I’d want to be backing an electric car down a boat ramp.

The Tesla will cost 1/10th that, and likely be tweaked to be faster.

Just about everybody wants to be first off the line.

Then first to the next back up.

On the other hand, my Prius will make it to sixty, eventually.

You would think they would cough up the yen to rent time at a track instead of testing in a parking lot.

“The automaker wants to repeat the run with road tires in hopes of achieving the same time.”

With AWD and unheated non-treated street tires, only a slight chance it would succeed. If the vehicle had only two-wheel drive, no chance at all it would succeed

That’s got to be the worst test track I’ve ever seen. There’s a deep ditch to the end and right. How stupid are those guys?

Yes but, can it exceed the old 32 feet per second per second rule?
IIRC that puts it a bit under 3 seconds for 0-60.

No reverse? They had to push it backward. At what is mind-boggling is that they couldn’t find a longer runway for testing?

No reverse?

Get it out the door with a low ball list price, then kill them on the extras.
