A Canadian women's hockey player refused to wear her silver medal after her team lost to arch rivals USA in the Olympic finals.
Jocelyne Larocque yanked the medal off her neck during the ceremony in Pyeongchang just seconds after an official gave it to her.
The 29-year-old and her teammates lost the gold to the USA on Thursday in a dramatic shootout, ending a streak of four gold medals in the last four Olympic games.
Team USA celebrated gold medal joy and ended 20 years of Olympic misery against Canada in the most anticipated clash of the Winter Games last night.
They held their nerve and won the dramatic shootout after the game ended 2-2 in regulation time.

That means they grew up in the obama years and have leaned no respect for anything except what they want.
What did she want them to do- give the silver medal to someone else? Or insist they ALL get gold medals for participating??

I don’t think those medals are even pure silver. I believe they are silver plated just like some dime store trinket. I know the gold medals are fake.
As an ex-Canadian, I will get everyone here the mentality of hockey and Canada.
Canadians EXPECT to beat the Americans in hockey. All the time and anytime. Hands down. Just like Team USA basketball: we expect to kick everyone’s ass.
It’s the only thing that the country is damn good at. They are hurting for sure. I havent texted my relatives and family in BC but if you check ALL Canadian newspapers it sthe ONLY TOPIC in sports. Google them if you like :)

That's the problem with these Olympic games they still have winners and losers. I bet they don't even have safe spaces or coloring books for the losers.
I grew up in Calgary for awhile. It always depends on the hockey organization you enroll your kid in. If the district organization says “no, it’s too dangerous”, then no one will. Outside rinks are far and few so the hockey kid orgs make you enroll your child in idsoor hockey rinks. It’s also a safety issue with security and a damn warm place to watch your kid play pee wee hockey at 5 in the morning.
try doing that in -15 degree weather in an outside hockey rink.

I always thought the sports that line up tourney style are rough for the silver medalists. At least the bronze folks win their last game to get a medal, losing to get a medal can’t be fun. Sure in the long run you finished second, which ain’t bad, but you lost and now you’ve got to stand there and get medals.
If Canadians really think that, they are behind the times. The NHL is under 50% Canadian now. Up until around 1970, it was close to 100% Canadian. I think even Canadian hockey fans understand that Canada no longer has anything close to a monopoly on great hockey. Not to take anything away from them, of course; Canada is still number 1, just saying it is not really analogous to the US domination of basketball.
