Brooklyn BBQ is spreading to every corner of the world—Colombia, Spain, Panama, Sweden, England, and Japan—looking like it came straight out of Williamsburg. But why aren't these countries taking cues from Texas or Kansas City?
After sitting down at the restaurant Pork in Barcelona, a long menu describing different preparations of pork is set before me. There is charcuterie made from Iberian pigs, various types of dry-aged sausages and chorizos, and slow cooked and grilled pork. Everything is sold by weight. There are also hanging Edison bulbs and the beer, brewed in conjunction with a cult brewer in Liverpool, is served by the jar or by growler. There are butcher knife tap handles in front of white subway tiles. After the waitress explains the menu to me, she says a restaurant in New York was the inspiration.
"In Brooklyn?" I ask.
She nods.
"Fette Sau?"
She nods again. I'm not surprised. This is the third time I've heard this in a year.

Interesting article. Too bad the author thought he had to spice it up even more with gratuitous ‘F’ words.
Maybe that appeals to the Millenials.
How appetizing (not). Needs beans, sauce, garlic toast and a plate. Other than that, it’s fine.
I’ve met very little barbecue that I dislike and it’s good that New Yorkers are wanting in on the goodness of it, but for god’s sake here we go with the mouth. No, it’s not taking over the world, very few people who know authentic barbecue have even heard of it. Try being humble and letting the food speak for itself, foreign concept for NYC I know, but just try it.
TEXAS barbecue could show them a thing or two.

At least you won’t have to eat next to an Islamo Nazi. That’s got to be a plus in Europe these days.
My last couple trips to Brooklyn have been a culinary disappointment, but a friend has promised a good steakhouse next trip.

I’ll say this,, New Yawk makes good pizza.
