Just finished doing my taxes this year online, and lo and behold, I foolishly thought the Obamacare "fine" didn't exist anymore, I thought I was getting a refund. Ha ha, how stupid of me. Now I owe the government money because I couldn't afford to pay $1200 a month so illegals could get free healthcare. Anyone else run into this yet?

The tax bill was not retroactive. Your 2018 taxes won’t include the penalty.

You’re also exempt from the requirement if the most inexpensive coverage you can find would cost you more than 8.16% of your 2017 household income.

Yes I was reading through that mess but I couldn’t find anything that would help me. This was an electronic filing so I quit before sending it because I want to take more time to see if I can find something to get me out of it, find something that may help. If I got to pay it, I’ll be damned if I send them a check for that $345. Bring me to court, throw me in jail, there is no way in hell I am paying it. They can steal it out of my refund but no way in hell am I writing them a check for the difference, F them! I’ll forward ALL requests for payment to Nancy Pelosi

Yep, same here +$5000 deductible = $17,000/yr., Single! So $17,000 before coverage kicks in PLUS the penalty, er, I mean tax/s I paid since Obamacare began because unaffordable. If I could afford that, I’d have 2 houses. Grrrrrr!
It’s never been enforceable. Even last year, when trying to file electronically, it tried to charge the fine. Instead, I filled out the paper form and mailed it in. I received the full refund (they didn’t deduct the ACA fine)
My theory is they came up with this thinking Hillary would win, it was a plan from the start to bring full blown communism in through the back door. They raise the cost of healthcare to levels where people can’t afford it and raise the fines to where people can’t afford it. They knew it would take years to get it to that level. That’s where Hillary was suppose to come in, she would ensure the costs and fines went up and up until you had tens of millions of people in debt to the government, so much debt that they couldn’t possibly pay it. And then what happens? The rug gets pulled out and the government starts seizing property, bank accounts, possessions, the government owns all, redistribution, collectivism, communism 101
