ASHLAND, Ohio – An 8-year-old boy loaded a rifle, repeatedly shot his 4-year-old sister at home and then informed their mother, who left work to check the girl's injuries, cleaned up a bloody bed cover and returned to work, leaving the children alone again, a prosecutor said.
Alyssa Edwards, 27, is jailed on child endangerment charges related to the Saturday shooting in Hayesville, about 70 miles (110 kilometers) southwest of Cleveland.
Her attorney, Donald Wick, said Tuesday that he had just received the case and couldn't yet comment.

A mother left a 4 year old in the care of an 8 year old. But the real problem is access to guns. OK, let's take a step back to reality, in this case there were three big problems.
1. A child too young emotionally and mentally being made responsible for the care of a much younger child.
2. A gun and ammunition left unsecured and accessible to a child with no adult supervision in the home.
3. A mental deficient in the role of a parent that was so irresponsible and inept that they made the first two possible and scarred the children for life.
