I would’ve aborted a fetus with Down syndome. Women need that right.

"But accepting that essential truth is different from compelling a woman to give birth to a child whose intellectual capacity will be impaired, whose life choices will be limited, whose health may be compromised." - Ruth Marcus

In a period of history when the much that is "known" by human beings has only revealed how much is yet unknown, such a statement by Marcus serves to expose her ignorant and self-centered views on this subject.

Can she imagine a day soon when some new discovery will reveal that the now=considered-to-be "impaired" intellectual capacity of that child she participates in conceiving may be the child God intends to use to demonstrate some great medical or scientific "miracle" of medicine?

Only a belief and trust in a Supreme Being allows these faulty little physical brains of ours to anticipate our own potential participation in such a "miracle."

Apparently, Marcus's "intellectual capacity" may be too "impaired" to conceive of such a possibility!

I have close relatives who have made this argument.

My response the only time they ever tried to convince me was this: “I’m autistic. You look me in the eye and tell me that you would have aborted me if you knew.”

Shut them up right away.

"I'm going to be blunt here. That is not the child I wanted."

Hey, Ruth Marcus:

You believe you are a human being. Great. It's a free country. Let's say I do not.

Would that give the right not only to hold, but to act on my belief, end your life, grieve moderately (because I am a decent, civilized person) and then move on?

People like Marcus who imagine they are writing such "thoughtful" commentaries give evidence they haven't given anything 10 minutes of sustained thought for years.

Except perhaps this thought, common to all tyrants: The Supreme Moral Law is "What I Want."

Why should she have to suffer through an abortion?

Just restart Aktion T4.

I refused that test and went to another doctor who said she knew a specialist that used 4D ultrasound and he could detect abnormalities by looking at the fetus’s head shape and so on just in case I wanted to prepare since I didn’t plan to abort.

He said that an Amniocentesis test was invasive and not necessary just because a woman was in her 40s.

I'm not sure it's something my wife or I could do

I sincerely respect and admire your honesty, thank you. I have always had the same view as you, until the day my son was born. I told God that I don't have what it takes, I am not as good as those other parents who have a special needs child. In 14 years God has truly enlightened me, so many little lessons, each powerful beyond the brightest star. Every day I am in amazement at what my son does and how big his heart and soul is. I can do this because he is teaching me how to do it. I truly believe a proud father of 4 as you are, you could and would do God's work in the most amazing way. I will also share that I am privileged to have been chosen by my son as his father, in relation to his condition I have been showered with so much love, so very much, such deep and beautiful gifts that other parents will never know. There is a trade off in this life and there is nothing I would ever do to turn back the clock.

Well, gosh. There’s logic for ya. “I would have killed my baby, so therefore everyone should have the right to kill their babies.”

Hmmm. Must be nice to go through live with all the moral certainty of a stone.

How long until they say murdering anyone is OK if you don’t like them? It’s happened in plenty of other cultures, and it doesn’t just appear out of a vacuum.

It's already happening. Listen to the left these days, they actually are advocating the extermination of people who will not submit to socialist dictatorship. And these people have no qualms about labelling a picture of a handicapped person with hateful words such as "I bet her mother wishes she would have had an abortion!" They are also advocating for genocide of white people, and even white people are jumping on that bandwagon.

The devaluing of human life since 1973 has shaped the millennial generation into something ugly.

Pretty sure they all do.

That chromosome holds something we could all use to lose a bit of.

Insisting on the “right” to slaughter whatever is imperfect. Guess they have never looked inward...

I resent these people. I have a dear niece with Downs and she is a far better person to be around than these liberals that want to kill her. I do not have an open mind about this issue.

Let me ask a question. The Test for Abnormalities is done on a 15 Week Old Fetus.

Why then did the Senate Democrats Vote down the 20 Week Fetal Pain Legislation Bill?

It still would have given Blood Thirsty Mothers like this one the Option to Murder their Unborn Child without breaking the Law.

Of course those same Senate Democrats want to take away our Civil Rights because another crazed Democrat decided to perform Post Birth Abortions on some Teenagers in FL.

You’re not fit to be a parent. Parenthood comes with all kinds of risks and we accept our children as they are and take care of them. I have both Downs and autism in my family and the very thought of anyone thinking either one of them is not fit to suck air infuriates me. I would far rather have a nation of Downs and autistics than an nation of evil liberals.

How long before you start aborting babies because they’ll be male? Have brown eyes?

“Well that’s my right”

Disgusting.
