We Never Could Have Imagined (Or Prepped For) What Actually Happened In Venezuela

Can we prepare for everything?

We never could have imagined…or prepped for…what happened in Venezuela.

In this article, I wanted to analyze my preps, and the nature of the apocalypse we have been forced to face. I don’t know about you, but anything that kicks you out of your place, of your warm bed, your pets, kids, wife, and the rest of your family, for me does not have another better word to describe it.

My comfort bubble was destroyed, my work of an entire life was thrown out by the window, my family insurance full coverage policy is gone with the wind (although with no medications to be had and doctors running away to Argentina and Colombia, it’s not like it was very useful though), and the few preps I had for 4 or 5 months are history now. Of course, they worked pretty well, and we stretched it a little bit, but once the system collapsed, there is nothing else we can do but close the place and bug out to some other place where we can at least buy food.

What happened was something entirely different from what we had prepared for.

I guess that what I mean is, that, within our means, we prepared more or less adequately, but what really happened was something entirely different that we had not prepared for.

We prepared for some of the consequences of turmoil, unrest, riots, crime. We were able to hunker down for a while and able to defend ourselves silently and seriously, without having to leave our haven. The scarcity problems started back there around 2013-2014. Those years were the last time I remember we could buy large amounts of wheat flour, corn flour for arepas (yes, those yellow packages

No one can prep for their nation going socialist, except for having an escape plan. This is especially true since socialism works for a while, until the stocks of products made under a market system are depleted. The government will pass anti-hoarding laws. Maybe you can hide your cache. Maybe you can’t. Maybe just the smell of cooking food coming from your home will tip off a hungry neighbor.

I’ve known a lot of people over the years who escaped from communist nations in the 80s. They were from Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania, East Germany, and Cuba. Prepping to stay in the communist state is not a viable option. Prepping your escape route is the only solution.

If you plan to stay, the best prep is to be a loyal Party Member with a position of authority in the Party.

If $6000 buys a years worth of food for a family of four it’s a bargain at just $115 a week.

There's too many of us to leave - best plan is to stop 'home grown' communists from taking over the country.

We never could have imagined that the oil and electricity state companies employees were going to be threatened with imprisonment for treason if they tried to quit their jobs to leave the country. Because THAT IS HAPPENING.

Directive 10-289:

Point One. All workers, wage earners and employees of any kind whatsoever shall henceforth be attached to their jobs and shall not leave nor be dismissed nor change employment, under penalty of a term in jail. The penalty shall be determined by the Unification Board, such Board to be appointed by the Bureau of Economic Planning and National Resources. All persons reaching the age of twenty-one shall report to the Unification Board, which shall assign them to where, in its opinion, their services will best serve the interests of the nation.

What happened in Venezuela is the entirely predictable, and widely predicted, result of despotic socialism.

I dare say it was not just predictable, but inevitable.

Canada? My point and the point of the article was that you can’t prep enough for a socialist takeover. You either fight to stop it, or you get out, or you embrace the suck and join the party.

If America goes socialist, humanity crumbles into barbarism anyway.

If you were a jew in Germany in the late thirties, what were the options? First your business(livelihood) is taken away from you and then your house and real estate. so you convert your wealth to jewelry and paintings and you group up with others to survive. Then you can’t leave the country with your wealth, you might without it though. Then you can’t leave under any condition. Then they work you to death and extract the gold from your teeth.

If you are a German what are your options? Stand up to Hitler and be killed. Go underground and fight the situation but then others are going to die for what you do. Shut up and survive you think, but then you go to war and are killed.

It does not end well for anyone except those that left EARLY.

“An economic collapse this long seemed like something that was entirely out of the question. It was entirely unpredictable. I would have expected a pandemics or a coup d’etat long before this hungry zombie-like scenario.”

It truly seems like an impossible scenario, what has happened in Venezuela. So much for those who say it can’t happen ‘here.’ It can happen. All it takes is the right sorts in charge.

Yep. But, there’s sports on TV and Junior needs to get to soccer practice and the boss wants that TPS Report on his desk by Monday morning.

Someone else will have to fight the socialists.

4-5 months won’t do it. We are prepped for 1 year and have backyard chickens. Without a place in a rural area to run to it still isn’t enough.

Yep. We will rationalize that its better to live with “some” socialism than to lose everything by escaping. Then, when “some” turns to “too much”, the fences are already up and it’s too late.

and where would that be?
Canada?

I would suggest Mongolia.
Even thought Mongolia was the second country to go communist it was so remote that none of the communist leaders wanted to be there, so Mongolia and more freedom than most. Freedom is a realative term, not and absolute term.

So the real answer to the question is where the commies aint.......................

P.S. The commies ARE in Canada....................

10-289 on some form would have been mandated by Pickles not long after assuming power.

We dodged a planet killer.

If you were a jew in Germany in the late thirties, what were the options?

One Austrian Jew, a scientist whose research ended up in food preservation, converted his holdings to platinum, fashioned it into clothes-hangers, and emigrated.

Give a shipment to a welfare family instead of them getting food stamps.
