Neanderthals have this image because Darwin and Huxley needed a transitional species from ape to man. There was no evidence for what they manufactured, but so what. They needed and the scientific community allowed them to.

I love these new reconstructions. They make them so much more relatable. And considering we actually
are related, I can only assume they're more accurate.
Anyway, Cave Bob Ross there looks downright huggable with that twinkly little smile. I bet he took some red ochre and created a few happy little aurochs in his day. :)
