Data available in both text and csv formats at the NASA, GISS website have been routinely cited as indicative of global warming despite their known weaknesses. The three years 2015 through 2017 are widely reported as the three hottest years on record.
Tony Heller, however, has demonstrated that tampering with data from the U.S. Climatology Network (USHCN) has created the illusion of much higher temperatures in reported data than in the original data, for the continental United States. This leads one to wonder how much not so widely known "adjustments" in GISS data have been responsible for similar results at a global level.
The GISS data are updated around the middle of each month, and I have compared the January and March versions in figure 1, for the years 1881 through 2017. The data are smoothed over two years, in that, for example, the 1881 data point is the average of 1880 and 1881 and 2017 the average for 2016 and 2017. This is commonly done to make data more presentable, allowing movements to be more clearly discerned and to smooth out the effects of "abnormal" years.
This comparison allows two interesting observations. Firstly, the March revised data indicate somewhat higher temperatures in roughly the early third of the period, and somewhat lower temperatures the last third of the period. The overall pattern, one of warming, however, remains...
...albeit slightly more muted than in the January version of the data, with 2015 through 2017 still being indicated as record hot years. Importantly, the data points for 2016 and 2017 are much lower in the revised data, and the three years 2015 to 2017 show no acceleration in temperatures.

It’s all caused by global warming. Global warming will cause global cooling. Just ask Bill Nye the Science Guy. I’m sure he can convince you.
Global cooling is the one thing climate scientist all agree is inevitable.
The globalists fight to curtail man-made global warming is finally working. /s
But wait!
When the sun becomes a red giant, we will experience global warming of epic proportions (as in the sun’s diameter will grow larger than the diameter of the earth’s orbit).
We can obviously stop this by ridding ourselves of the evil combustion engine, thereby saving not only the sun, but the earth.
Ah, I just love liberal logic.
Worked pretty well here Thursday night into Friday. Removed a foot + of dr. gore’s evil foe from 2/3rds of the driveway. And it wasn’t the fun dry fluffy kind. Lots of water content in this batch. Heard they got a bunch around Lake Tahoe. Finally.
H2O....cant live with it and cant live without it. AKA Dihydrogen Monoxide.
Yes, evil as it is DHMO is essential.
They adjust older data due to problems with both precision and accuracy with 19th century equipment and methods. They adjust newer readings due to changes in land use and population growth around the monitoring stations. They adjust data between surface readings, airborne readings, and space sensors.
I'm sure I've forgotten several others. But you get the idea. Now here's the thing they don't share... All those adjustments to the data are larger than the trends their models predict. That's right, they try to whip us into a panic to "do something" because of a projected 0.6 rise over the next hundred years. But they've adjusted data up and down several degrees.
That’s right Mr Cat ,Planet Earth is just doing it’s thing
I used to be a Climate Change Denier. I still think man-made warming (AGW) is a bunch of Red inspired hooey - but...
There are photo of a breeding pair of beavers living North of the Brooks Range here in Alaska. That and where my house sits today used to be a mile-thick layer of ice.
So, yeah, the climate is changing. Since I am sick to death of shoveling snow, I look forward to more ‘warming’....
If its revised then its biased and faulty thus should be excluded from analytical observation
Climate change! We’re all gonna DIE!
That data is bad!
It has to go through NOAA’s transmogrifier before it can be used in their magic computer models.
Agreed, I’m not a climate change denier either. I’m certain the climate has been changing ever since the Earth developed one. I hope it keeps on changing too. Nature hates stagnation. What I deny is that human activities have as large of an effect as the scammers claim. I also deny that we have the technology and ability to do much about it. Finally, I am certain that if we had the ability to change the climate, we would absolutely eff it up.
Hopefully this wont last too long. I wonder how effective geothermal heating is over the space of decades during extremely cold temperatures?
