You are probably right. But absent some credible allegation of criminality, I for one have no interest in the salacious details. There was a moral failing and he quit. End of story as far as I am concerned.

I love the fake penance of 'inappropriate' as if the action is fine, but it was just the wrong conditions.
"Sorry I shot your son m'am when I broke and entered into his house after raping your daughter in law. Now! Had it been MY house, and MY wife, and had your son broken in, my being there and the sex, were it consensual of course, WOULD have been appropriate. But, alas, it was neither my house nor my wife nor was your son a burglar. I broke in, raped her and I shot him. It was inappropriate under the circumstances. I should have shot your son in my own house, and I know better, and I'll do better in the future. For now though, upon painful and humble self-reflection, and because of my lofty moral standards, it is right for me to get off your daughter in law and step out of the house, and spend time with my family so that we can heal. My family certainly didn't deserve this. Please give us the privacy you would expect for yourselves if your son had broken into a house and raped and shot people. "
