Spring storm hits Northeast, bringing NYC the most April snow in over 30 years

It may be spring, but it feels like winter for the Northeast this morning as a snowstorm moves through Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and New England.

The latest

The snowfall rate at New York's LaGuardia Airport reached 2 inches per hour this morning.

New York City saw 5.5 inches of snow this morning -- its heaviest April snowfall since 1982 when the city was dumped with 9.6 inches.

The New York Yankees canceled today's home opener due to the snow. The game will be played Tuesday instead.

Tonight's New York Mets game was also canceled and rescheduled for July.

Here in SW Pennsylvania we got between 1 and 2 inches which has mostly all melted by now leaving a damn muddy mess.

6” here in northcentral PA, and the damned stuff weighed about 40 pounds per shovelful.
My back is absolutely ready for Spring !

It was 44 degrees when I woke up this morning. Glanced outdoor. SNOW! LOL. There was about 3 inches left. How much originally fell, I don’t know but it was busy melting. It looked nice. It covered all the mud from the previous - still melting- March snow.

Same in southern NH. I woke up at 6, checked the weather, saw snow forecast, got up and covered the tractors and the grill. Snow was light, and while there was nearly an inch, it was gone by mid afternoon.

Currently accuweather predicts 49% chance of 3 to. 6 inches Saturday. Weather.gov 2 to 4 , but nynjpaweather doubts significant snow.... JC & Nyc
