The Cambridge Analytica Files
The Guardian ^ | Sun 18 Mar 2018 05.44 EDT | Carole Cadwalladr

For more than a year we’ve been investigating Cambridge Analytica and its links to the Brexit Leave campaign in the UK and Team Trump in the US presidential election. Now, 28-year-old Christopher Wylie goes on the record to discuss his role in hijacking the profiles of millions of Facebook users in order to target the US electorate

The first time I met Christopher Wylie, he didn’t yet have pink hair. That comes later. As does his mission to rewind time. To put the genie back in the bottle.

By the time I met him in person, I’d already been talking to him on a daily basis for hours at a time. On the phone, he was clever, funny, bitchy, profound, intellectually ravenous, compelling. A master storyteller. A politicker. A data science nerd.

Two months later, when he arrived in London from Canada, he was all those things in the flesh. And yet the flesh was impossibly young. He was 27 then (he’s 28 now), a fact that has always seemed glaringly at odds with what he has done. He may have played a pivotal role in the momentous political upheavals of 2016. At the very least, he played a consequential role. At 24, he came up with an idea that led to the foundation of a company called Cambridge Analytica, a data analytics firm that went on to claim a major role in the Leave campaign for Britain’s EU membership referendum, and later became a key figure in digital operations during Donald Trump’s election campaign.

" . . . his mission to rewind time. To put the genie back in the bottle."

I presume that the "genie" is globalist totalitarianism. The left is now very open about its goals.

If you have ever read Isaac Asimov’s ‘Foundation’ trilogy this software that this young man developed is reminiscent of the Foundations efforts to predict the behavior of large groups of people and to guide the course of human events on the large scale.

If you have not read the books I highly recommend them. I also understand the books are to be made in to a TV series by AppleTV

She has also reported on alleged links between Nigel Farage, the 2016 presidential campaign of Donald Trump and the Russian influence on the 2016 presidential election currently under investigation in the United States. The company Cambridge Analytica is pursuing legal action against The Observer for the claims made in Cadwalladr’s articles, which were published in the Guardian in March 2018.
For her work on these issues, Cadwalladr won the British Journalism Awards’ Technology Journalism Award in December 2017

Globalist international conspiracy to establish a one world socialist government with the US giving up sovereignty and these Commie A-holes have the gall to allege the support for Trump and BRexit and other opposition movements to be a Russian plot.

Zuck thinks we are stupid he talks about how they invented the system in 2007 then he jumps to 2013 like nobody will remember that 2008 and 2012 happened in between

II. CAMBRIDGE ANALYTICA

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working to understand exactly what happened with Cambridge Analytica and taking steps to make sure this doesn’t happen again. We took important actions to prevent this from happening again today four years ago, but we also made mistakes, there’s more to do, and we need to step up and do it.

A. What Happened

In 2007, we launched the Facebook Platform with the vision that more apps should be social. Your calendar should be able to show your friends’ birthdays, your maps should show where your friends live, and your address book should show their pictures. To do this, we enabled people to log into apps and share who their friends were and some information about them.

In 2013, a Cambridge University researcher named Aleksandr Kogan created a personality quiz app. It was installed by around 300,000 people who agreed to share some of their Facebook information as well as some information from their friends whose privacy settings allowed it. Given the way our platform worked at the time this meant Kogan was able to access some information about tens of millions of their friends.

PENTAGON KILLS LIFELOG PROJECT

THE PENTAGON CANCELED its so-called LifeLog project, an ambitious effort to build a database tracking a person’s entire existence.

Run by Darpa, the Defense Department’s research arm, LifeLog aimed to gather in a single place just about everything an individual says, sees or does: the phone calls made, the TV shows watched, the magazines read, the plane tickets bought, the e-mail sent and received.

Civil libertarians immediately pounced on the project when it debuted last spring, arguing that LifeLog could become the ultimate tool for profiling potential enemies of the state.

The origins of Facebook have been in dispute since the very week a 19-year-old Mark Zuckerberg launched the site as a Harvard sophomore on February 4, 2004.

Then called “thefacebook.com,” the site was an instant hit. Now, six years later, the site has become one of the biggest web sites in the world, visited by 400 million people a month.

Thank you for these links. It’s amazing how these people are so stupid — like they don’t think/know people can research these things. Of course, the sheeple accept whatever they’re told.

Haven’t not read, but will add to my (long) list. I just don’t understand people who can be influenced like that. I don’t believe I could be hypnotized either. Too strong-willed. (Thank God)

It’s amazing what you read/learn when you leave the American press behind. There’s a lot the MSM hides.

I agree with you on that. Conservative ideas have been so watered down that it doesn’t mean what it used to. Our job to hold onto them tenaciously and red pill. I’m soooo not PC.

I just don’t understand people who can be influenced like that.

Not that tough.

Most people are intellectually lazy. They see something on facebook that fits their preconceived ideas and world view and believe it.

Most don’t bother to check other sources before re-posting something so the false news or bad analysis of real news spreads rapidly.

It is easy to see how this could work really well in social media.
