So Do I! man some of those show were scary! Like a 1990s version of Inner Sanctum or Lights Out radio.

One night Art airing a scary story when my cat jumped up on my sewing machine as I was listening and just made me jump ten feet! Don’t even remember today what Art was airing only that cat jumping up and I screamed.

RIP AB

I went to Egypt with him and Ramona in 97 but I think he was older than 72. I hope he stopped drinking before he died

I was listening in NYC the night he “retired.”
A great broadcaster who understood the imagination medium and used it to entertain so many millions.
Rest in Peace, Art.

I remember all those years ago when that HIV positive public school teacher attacked Art’s 16 year old son on a camping trip.

while I feel sorry for Art here, of course I also hope that his son is okay today.

He was a throwback to the days of Long John Nebel and John Keel, when radio was still king.

He was a gifted broadcaster. If he was feigned interest in a guest, I could never tell.

However, with a slight change in his inflection he could communicate his incredulity without giving offence.

Between him and the early days of the internet it was a conspiracy fan’s feast.

If they can get to Art, they can get anyone.

Didn’t he retire (can’t remember when) and then unretire? I guess I didn’t hear many of his shows, just heard the name all the time. We go to a music/dance club every Wed night and there is an Art Bell attendee. I’ve always let everybody know of his father in Calif. Kidding. Gonna have to pass the bad news to Art next Wed.

Wow!

This one is a shocker, or maybe I just didn’t know that he was sick.

Well what ever the truth he was searching for was, he now knows for sure.

There was a palpable creepiness to the experience of driving along the VERY ill-lighted interstate 95 in NJ while listening to Art Bell’s static-y show wavering in and out of audibility at 3 in the morning...RIP
