My daughter got married in October and many of her friends attended the lavish wedding reception (she and the groom paid for) came empty handed. They did not even give the newlyweds a congratulatory greeting card.
Won’t comment on that other than to wish the new bride and groom a long, happy, and healthy life together :-)
On the other hand...
I have given generous weddings presents and never received even a Thank You. Written or verbal.
