You’re right. Italy has produced some superb scientists. As has Germany. Thank God most of them came to the U.S. before WWII.
"This 3.5 keV emission line is unidentified. We truly don't know what it is," said Esra Bulbul, an astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and co-author in Cappelluti's study. "But one theory is that it could be a sterile neutrino, which is also known as decaying dark matter. What is truly interesting about Dr. Cappelluti's study is that he found this 3.5 keV line within our own galaxy."
As usual, the Kabbalists were way ahead of their time.
kav (קו) = "line"
ohr (אור) = "light"
ohr ein sof (אור אין סוף) = "infinite light"
tzimtzum (צמצום) = "contraction"
Ohr ("Light" Hebrew: אור; plural: Ohros/Ohrot "Lights" אורות) is a central Kabbalistic term in the Jewish mystical tradition. The analogy of physical light is used as a way of describing metaphysical Divine emanations. Shefa ("Flow" שפע and its derivative, Hashpoah "Influence" השפעה) is sometimes alternatively used in Kabbalah, a term also used in Medieval Jewish Philosophy to mean Divine influence, while the Kabbalists favour Ohr because its numerical value equals Raz ("mystery").

[Tzimtzum Restrictions of Divine Light]
In this radical concept of the "Ari", at the beginning of Creation the Divine "withdrew" (a complete tzimtzum) from a "Chalal" ("Vacated space"), to allow Creation to take place. The interpretation of this forms a central concern of subsequent Kabbalah (see Tzimtzum), and the "withdrawal" of God is interpreted only as a concealment from the perspective of the Creation, and only to apply to His light, not His Essence, as that would imply heretical limitations to the Divine.
In Lurianic Kabbalah, the Tzimtzum concealed the Ohr Ein Sof, which resolved the dichotomy between the Infinite Light and the possibility of creating finite Worlds. Without this radical leap of a concealment of the Ohr Ein Sof, even with the progressive, gradual concealments of the Chain of Worlds, the problem would not properly be overcome. Only a second, new light, immeasurably diminished, and of a different quality than the Ohr Ein Sof, could become the creative source of all reality. This new light, a "thin" illumination from the Ohr Ein Sof, called the "Kav" ("Ray"), shone into the "Vacated Space", and was a light that was adapted to the perspective of the subsequent creations on their own terms. It could relate to finite creation (Divine immanence), rather than the infinite Primordial light (the ultimate Divine transcendence).
The tzimtzum or tsimtsum (Hebrew צמצום ṣimṣūm "contraction/constriction/condensation") is a term used in the Lurianic Kabbalah to explain Isaac Luria's new doctrine that God began the process of creation by "contracting" his Ein Sof (infinite) light in order to allow for a "conceptual space" in which finite and seemingly independent realms could exist. This primordial initial contraction, forming a Khalal/Khalal Hapanui ("vacant space", חלל הפנוי) into which new creative light could beam, is denoted by general reference to the tzimtzum. In contrast to earlier, Medieval Kabbalah, this made the first creative act a concealment/Divine exile rather than unfolding revelation. This dynamic crisis-catharsis in the Divine flow is repeated throughout the Lurianic scheme.

Seeing the Sounds
By Chaya Shuchat
What if you could see with your ears?
Scientists at Hebrew University have developed a way to help blind people see, using a device that converts images into sound waves. With training, people who are blind from birth can learn to recognize faces, describe objects, and identify letters and words. This process of converting sensory information from one system to another is called sensory substitution.

When describing the giving of the Torah, the verse states: All the people saw the voices and the torches, the sound of the shofar, and the smoking mountain. How do you see the voices, the torches, and the sound of the shofar?

Machen Sie Spaß!!! (But to skip that last link is to miss the punchline.)
My bet is that it is the Necromongers (for any Riddick fans out there!)
I’m holding out for the Virile Neutrino Task Force.
I’m just waiting on my Neutrino decoder ring.
Nice color graphic, what does it have to do with
the article...3.5 kiloelectron volts is located where?
Now that you mention Germany, a man named Werner Von Braun defected from Germany to the US in the 1950’s. If memory serves he designed the V2 rocket, a major accomplishment at the time.
Per some documentaries I’ve seen, if is wasn’t for Von Braun their would not have been a Saturn V rocket (specifically the needed F1 engine) and no landing men on the moon. At least not by 1969.
I also understand he had to go up to MIT himself and light a fire under some people to get working on whatever task they were assigned to help with project Apollo. He often complained that America’s work ethic was terrible.
Imagine what he would say today!
H(1/4) -> H(1/17) ~3.5keV?
Hi, OT... Sorry, what are those, orbital transitions in hydrogen? I’ve never studied them and couldn’t tell you how to get the energy. I’m guessing they wouldn’t have overlooked something like that though, which is just wild speculation on my part since, like I say, I don’t know anything about the subject!
One interpretation of this emission line is that it’s produced by the decay of dark matter.”
...Towards this end, God designed the original Ten Sefirot with a built-in flaw. A Sefirah consists of both light and a vessel (a lesser light that acts as a receptacle for the greater light). God designed the original Sefirah-vessels as separate entities that were incapable of giving support to one another. When He shone His Light into these vessels, the vessels could not bear the intensity of that influx, and shattered... aka, the big bang... it goes on a bit...

Thanks LibWhacker.
Whoops, this one would have been more apropos:
Its this thing, it shines so bright....
Actually, they already did this..
