WASHINGTON – China's plan to transform itself into the global technology nexus is a "frightening" one that puts American intellectual property at risk, U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said Tuesday.

"It's a huge, huge problem," Ross told a gathering of fabric industry executives about the repeated theft of technology. "And it's not going away."

He said Beijing's development plan — Made in China 2025 — maps out the country’s strategy to dominate "every hot industry" from space to telecommunications to robotics to electric cars.

"They have been the factory floor of the world, now their vision is to be the technology center for the world," Ross said.

"What they are really trying to do is take their immense trade surplus from the conventional industries of today … and plow them into semiconductor research and every kind of research you can imagine."

Trump really, really, really needs to bring back manufacturing to America.

Big time.

Reminds me of the old Soviet 5 year plans. China is in debt 300% of their GDP, still has a communist government and now a dictator for life. Not going to end well for them.

Except with the old Soviet Union, we were the manufacturing powerhouse for the world.

The Soviet Union was not. And we certainly did NOT help them, by sending businesses to them.

The exact opposite is the case, with China. EVERYONE has been selling everything in America’s arsenal, to them. And not products. No, we have sent them INFRASTRUCTURE.

For a generation and a half. Factory, after factory. Jobs, millions of them.

EVERYONE. Republicans. Democrats. Our media has not said even one word. Nobody has said a single thing.

Every single year, our trade deficit with China has gotten bigger, and bigger, and bigger. It is now at yet another all-time high.

No. We bankrupt the old Soviet Union.

But China is bankrupting US.

We are doing exactly the wrong things. And EVERYONE is all selling us out, with nobody saying a single word about it, for over one entire generation.

A long, long, long time ago Ross Perot tried to stop this. But he was not the right guy.

Now more than one generation later, President Donald Trump is now saying some of the same things.

Except he is our president.

It is long past time, for us to do something about this. America has been (far) too sold out, for far too long.

No. China is every bit as challenging as the Soviet Union was once.

But this time, we are on the wrong side, economically.

We need to rebuild AMERICA.

We need to stop buying everything from others.

For real.

Everyone in America’s establishment has been for sale, for so long, we are forgetting that we were once the world’s leading production engine.

Now China leads. By far. They are a massive, industrial powerhouse now. Because they have OUR INDUSTRY.

That is not progress.

Not at all.

Duh................

Well, we sent ALL our damn factories to China (AND had ta give ‘Em 51% OWNERSHIP to boot...........)

We let ‘em STEAL every single bit of technology they could find here to send “home”.

Any body surprised ?

I’m betting they implode in 5 years. This new point system will come back to bite them. They really don’t understand economics like they should.

Now China leads. By far. They are a massive, industrial powerhouse now.

They also have crumbling ghost cities and debt that is 300% their GDP. Don’t underestimate the ability of Marxist governments to royally mess things up.

I don’t know.

Have you shopped for (anything) recently?

“Made in China”.

Really. Everything.

Except food, and oil. And some clothes seem to be now moving to other countries.

Everything else, is from China.

That’s an exaggeration. My point remains. When it starts to unwind thenbe worried. Not if, when.
