Most prohibited persons are felons, most of whom are on probation or parole. As a condition for being released from custody they agree to give up certain of their rights. The police do not need probable cause or warrant to stop them or search them. So if you want to get guns out of the hands of criminals, fund overtime pay to the local police to go shake down parolees and people on probation. Find a gun, lock ‘em back up.
I am not even sure I like this idea, but I mean it is a no brainer if you really wanted to disarm criminals. It is clear that they are not serious they just want to use violent criminals as a political tool to restrict private ownership of weapons by the citizens.
