Here's one more voice creating the appearance that there's a moral equivalency between communism and McCarthyism / anti-communism. I know high school students whose only exposure to communism has been the "evils" of America during the McCarthy trials. I know students whose only exposure to communism has been as a vocabulary word. Look...when it comes to McCarthy, I feel awfully sorry for a couple hundred Hollywooders who couldn't find a job. But I'm much more sorry for the 85 million dead people who were killed by communist countries in times of peace ( https://communiststats.com/ ).

McCarthy had nothing to do with "Hollywooders" who lost their jobs. He was a Senator who chaired the Senate Committee on Government Operations investigating communist subversion in the U.S. government. Most of his findings were ultimately verified by the Venona Project.

As a Senator he had nothing to do with the House Un-American Activities Committee which investigated private citizens such as Hollywood actors and producers etc.
