It doesn’t matter if you win California and New York each by 100,000 votes or by 10 million votes.
Since Republicans know they’re going to lose those states, they don’t put much effort in contesting them. Why bother? It would be a waste of time and resources. They could campaign there. They could narrow the margin, but 2nd place is 2nd place in our winner take all system so that would be time and effort down the drain for nothing.
That’s why the Democrats boasting they got more popular votes is irrelevant. Its like the losing side in a football game saying “but we got more total yards”. Who gives a crap?
It’s like a losing World Series baseball team saying “But we won two games, one 10-2 and the other 11-3. The other team won four games 9-8, 7-5, 11-10 and 5-4! We had more runs in the series!”
