BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. -- After an accusation of racism during a Virginia traffic stop went viral, the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office has released a full, uninterrupted body cam video of the incident.

Behind the wheel of her car and live on Facebook, Dawn Hilton-Williams described a traffic stop on Route 58 westbound in rural Brunswick County.

"I was just bullied by a racist cop, who threatened to pull me out of the car," said Hilton-Williams in the 11-minute long Facebook video.

"This is where we got lynched. This is where we got lynched, even in today's day."

The traffic stop happened on April 27, when Hilton-Williams was heading home to Greensville, South Carolina after watching her daughter play in a tennis tournament.

In the video, Hilton-Williams said she feared for her life.

"I mean pulling you out of a car doesn't seem like a big deal, but when you are African-American and you get pulled out of the car you get shot or you get Tased, or you get Sandra Blanded," said Hilton-Williams.

"I said 'I’m not putting my signature on that ticket.' He said 'if you don't sign this ticket, then I'm going to pull you out of the car and I'll arrest you, and I'll impound the car,'" she said tearfully in the video.

The Facebook video would soon go viral with nearly 800 shares and brought to the attention of Brunswick County Sheriff Brian Roberts after receiving dozens of calls from concerned citizens.

"I started getting calls from citizens asking what is going on. They had seen a posting and were concerned about how I would allow it to happen," said Roberts.

After reviewing body cam footage of the traffic stop, Roberts said the stop was completely by the book, and his deputy did nothing wrong.

I searched and did not find this.

Just another one in a growing list of police officers being accused falsely of racism only to have their body cams prove otherwise. I guess the race card is being questioned a tiny bit now that there are body cams.

By the way, it's obvious that this deputy is a latent racist; just listen to that red-neck music he is playing in his cop car. Yes, that is sarcasm.

Glad to hear this LEO has been exonerated by actual body cam footage.

How long before “civil rights” groups demand police stop using body cams?

Great question.

They’ll say the cams are as racist as Photo ID’s are for voting.

Generally you can tell who is in the right by the release of the bodycam footage.

If law enforcement screws up, they don't release it.
If they do something for which the municipality could be sued, “they forgot to turn it on.”
If the do something for which the personnel involved should rightly do hard prison time, they seize camera footage from everyone in the vicinity.

Most of the time we see footage which vindicates the officers, but which leftists and people living a criminal lifestyle ignore.

I live in Illinois, and our city council for years made one excuse after another to avoid bodycams. The main excuse was the cost. they were getting bids of up to $120,000 per body cam per year. really.....

Now, our city council is 3/4 black. You would think with all the BLM they would WANT body cams... Nope, they just fought and fought them.

Well, two years ago, our Masonic Blue Lode with our the Moose bought 20 Go-Pro cams for the PD. Now the officers were THRILLED. See, that’s what you never hear, the narrative is that officers HATE them. WRONG.

So, it took a year for them to be allowed. Even though they were bought and paid for (at under $500 each) by our ogranizations the blacks on our city council fought tooth and nail, they hired attorneys, and fought it with the “wiretapping” laws, citing that you can’t record someone without a judges order....

Why would the black city council people be so against body cams?

Because, now after about 8 months of use, it turns out that EVERY damned lawsuit that has been brought against the police department for “racism” or “brutality” has been dropped once the other side realizes there are “body cams” involved.

Our cops love them. they have them on all the time, and they transmit both to the PD server AND their own personal servers (which the city is now trying to block, stating that any video shot while “on duty” is property of the PD). A judge is currently allowing them to save their own footage while this is under review.

Don’t listen to these asses that tell you cops hate bodycams. Good cops love them. Bad cops? maybe not so much. But sure as hell our city council HATES them.

I saw an article (about some college or other) the other day that said something like "Complaints of racism dropped dramatically after 400 cameras were installed around the campus."

This can be seen two ways. Perpetrators ceased. False complainers ceased.

I'm thinking that many accusations of racism are just false, (especially in this day and age) and once they knew it was being recorded, they just stopped making false complaints.

So, this victim lied and slandered the officer and the citizens of Brunswick Co. VA. Can’t she be sued?

I don’t think you can be arrested for not signing a ticket. What law would that violate?

If I were a cop in this situation, I would do it anyways regardless of what anybody said about it. Let the sun shine in. Don't let anyone hide the truth.

Usually the cam is released when the cops think they are wrong but it takes longer. The police and their lawyers have to think up a good narrative.

Signing the ticket proves that YOU received it. It is NOT an admission of guilt.

The ticket is for the law that was broken; speeding, etc. Signing the ticket only indicates that you will appear in court. failing to sign, the office will complete the arrest and take you into custody to ensure that you appear.

We need prosecutions for false accusations like this - the penalty being the same as the crimes being falsely accuse.

It wont stop all of it but it would make many NOT do that crime pr even consider it (overwhelming the courts is the leftists plan to destroy our judicial institution)
