not arth related but something parents need to know about. Another stupid challenge. Called the “Fainting” or “choking” challenge. Spreading around social media and it’s deadly.
On the plus side this could were out future Democrat voters.
Darwin would be proud.
That must have started right after the bridge jumping challenge, as in “If you’re friends jumped off a bridge would you?” - Mom
There were far, far, far,*far* fewer ways to get into trouble when I was a kid than there are today.
My friends and I just had the “pee on the electric fence” challenge. Hurt so bad you wished you died, but no one did.
Mixed feelings about this one.
If you are not gonna parent well, bad things like this are more liely to occur.
Parents used to scare the crap out of their kids doing dangerous stupid stuff, and use corporal punishment to make it something to be remembered.
Bet the kid didn’t have self esteem problems though.
Yes, it seems to come around again very 20-30 years.
I find this odd. No simple training in CPR? Every parent should be familiar with the process.
It might have saved her son's life.
Kids today are so damn stupid.
Hell, we were mischievous, but we weren’t pure idiots.
I guarantee that none of us would have nibbled on a Tide Pod.
In fact, we would have made fun of the moron who suggested it.
In the early ‘sixties the same thing went around, but you would hyperventilate for a couple of minutes, then hold your breath buckle over to squeeze your arms against your stomack real hard. I tried it in the middle of class in first grade. It worked. I woke up looking up at a ring of faces. Got to go home for the rest of the day.
I never did it again. I just wanted to see if it worked.
Mental health/life BUMP!
I did this to a friend in high school. He fell and seized for a min. Scared me and my other friend to death. When my friend came to, he thought it was amazing. Well he was a total stoner so he probably had trips worse then that.
Sad that a kid died from it.
If anything is named “Challenge,” run away as fast as you can. Harm, injury, and death can occur. Unfortunately, kids don’t have much reasoning power.
I thought the bucket of ice water over the head thing was incredibly stupid. A company I worked for did it to raise charity money. Why not just write a check?
This “Choking challenge” has been around a long time but it’s making a comeback in recent months.

I remember idiots doing that 50 years ago, when I was a kid. Even then I was smart enough not to do that.
It’s been around for a while - after watching two of my friends try it in about 1967, I decided against it.
Darwin at work. Sad, but inevitable.
Play stupid games, win deadly prizes.
Footnote: Same goes for liberals of any age.
Kids just too young for “hold my beer and watch this”
After one mom found her 12-year-old son dead while playing the "fainting challenge"...
Why was the mom playing the fainting challenge?
