WASHINGTON Seven months after Maine voters approved a ballot measure to expand Medicaid to tens of thousands of additional residents, a state judge on Monday ordered Gov. Paul LePages administration to stop stonewalling and move ahead with the plan.
It was the second victory in a week for Medicaid expansion, which became possible under the Affordable Care Act. Lawmakers in Virginia voted last week to open the program to an additional 400,000 residents. Advocates in Utah have succeeded in getting a question on the November ballot about expanding Medicaid, and similar efforts are underway in Idaho and Nebraska.

The only solution would be to abolish Medicaid, Obama Care and Medicare.
“...what cut in other services...”
Cut in services? Shirley you jest.
Wouldn’t it be funny if they are not acting because they simply can’t act without destroying the state.
Don't call me Shirley!
Governor: How will we pay for it?
Court: It doesn’t matter. Start paying for it.
Virginia is going to take a huge hit on this debacle. If the Democrats take over the GA, we better elect a Democrat for governor. A Republican will just be the scapegoat for the collapse.
Be funnier if they think Fed is going to bail them out
I suggest a new funding formula. The state should take notice of the areas which approved the measure and the level of support there. Then the taxes should apply in such percentages that model the vote most closely. The highest supporting areas should bear the highest burden of the increased taxes.
It was everywhere. The best way to pay for expansion is a tax on the poor because they have the most money. Just raise the sales tax a few cents.
The people who benefit the most from Medicaid Expansion are fraudsters. Medicaid is Welfare and therefore not audited very heavily. Expansion will just mean the ER’s will be filled with people trying to get drugs. Most doctors won’t take it. The ones that do are usually scamming the system.
Be funnier if they think Fed is going to bail them out
We’re losing the narrative. People love free stuff even though it’s not free for everyone. So sad to see this happening.
Gov. LePage will continue to slow-walk this turd by tossing it back to the legislature with the stipulation that its cost must be drawn from cutting existing spending. Maine’s job situation is quite rosy, and the only ones who aren’t working (other than the elderly or disabled) are those who want their lives subsidized. 70,000 on the waiting list? Patooie!
Gov. LePage should ignore this fiat.
There is no waiting list. That is a fictious concept generated by the proponents. I think if forced to do this we would be hard pressed to find 10,000 eligible for the program. 70,000 is about 5% of the population of Maine. The disputed group is low income healthy single adults 20 to 60. There are not that many such persons in Maine.
Names, please...
Who is this "judge..."
...and how fast can he/she/it run?
