California's new water restrictions send residents fleeing to saner states
Washington Times ^ | 6/6/2018 | Tammy Bruce

“Please sir, I want some more,” is no longer a sentiment just for Oliver Twist in the orphanage. A new law in California limits how much water can be used by each household. Now their showers, how many flushes, and how often they can do their laundry will be under the watchful eye of the state government.

This from politicians who have pushed policies creating homeless and drug abuse crises throughout the state. They have now decided to clamp down on the use of the most basic needs of civilized living.

As the blog Zero Hedge put it, “it’s now against the law to do laundry and shower on the same day in the Sunshine State,” and they’re not exaggerating. Under the guise of addressing “climate change,” the new bill rations water to a degree that makes it impossible to maintain a healthy home environment.

Perhaps the state wants everyone to feel like the drug addicts living in California’s ever-expanding homeless tent cities?

Zero Hedge reported, “Assembly Bill 1668 is where it gets personal. This establishes limits on indoor water usage for every person in California and the amount allowed will decrease even further over the next 12 years. ‘The bill, until January 1, 2025, would establish 55 gallons per capita daily as the standard for indoor residential water use, beginning January 1, 2025, would establish the greater of 52.5 gallons per capita daily or a standard recommended by the department and the board as the standard for indoor residential water use, and beginning January 1, 2030, would establish the greater of 50 gallons per capita daily or a standard recommended by the department and the board as the standard for indoor residential water use …’”

As the water runs freely...as I take my time shaving and brushing my teeth, letting the water run...then I linger long in the hot shower, letting the hot water run all over me for a long, long time...I’m thinking...maybe I’ll go back to California...

It's fake news. This new law isn't a significant cause of people leaving. Tammy Bruce should be ashamed. But if she wanted to write real news, she could point out that harassing homeowners has almost no effect on overall water usage.

Their isn’t any money for them in solutions...

There is a true story about Johnny Carson taling about the problems he encountered when Calif rationed water some years ago in a drought.

He was complaining on his show that he ‘could wash his car’, but he could not hose off his tennis court.

An audience member shouted out:
“Wash your car ON your tennis court”........

That got Johnny’s attention.

Soooo—Now California can hire pervderts to follow you into the bathroom to see how many flushes you use?

IF they hadn’t tampered with toilets & made them only with 3 gallons of water to flush, many of us would NOT be flushing multiple times in just one bathroom visit.

Somehow, I have monumental faith that Mr Kohler worked very hard on finding out how many gallons it really took to ‘flush it down’. After all, most of the USA rural already didn’t even have power to pump water into their houses.

City councils & county commissioners don’t know what Mr Kohler knew.

Everybody keeps bitching about how much water agriculture requires, but I don’t see them telling people to EAT LESS.

Also- the water goes onto the field, waters the plant, and then filters back down into the aquifer.

I live in rural N Nevada & when city people move into the valleys here, the first thing they howl about is how much ‘water is being wasted on all those fields’. I know one man who refuses to learn how the watering cycle works, and he uses plenty of the products those fields produce. A whole group of us gave up trying to educate him.

California has ample water. They refuse to use it. They let much of it run into the sea. They have even destroyed some of their damns. All of this is in the name of environmentalism run amok.

In California the stupid is strong in the government and its voters.

No mention of the devaluation of our properties as nobody in their right mind would ever want to buy a home here in California.

You use the brine to make sea salt.

That’s a positive use of the byproduct of desalinization.

People are already leaving California.

Yep. The last of 5 siblings on my FIL side, and 4 brothers on my MIL side have finally fled CA in the last few weeks. They are all old time Californians from the Civil War and Gold Rush Era, respectively.

They have fled to ID, WY, CO, UT, and NV. Good conservative gun owners. In fact, I did an inventory of my FIL gun collection. He would face over 1000 years in CA jail if arrested and served sentence consecutively.

They are in ID in an RV park shopping for houses in CDA, ID. When I chastised them for not having a plan and just selling and fleeing the state, the said, "not one more cent". We'd rather live in an RV park in ID than one more day in CA.

Anyways....the last of a large, old, conservative CA family is gone forever.
