2.) Much as I despise De Niro and Maher, this is not England and we don't jail people for wrongspeak (like they have done Tommy Robinson.) Now, I do think the government has a right to end any tax subsidies that are going to people who are trying to overturn the administration, but beyond that, if all they are doing is voicing their opinions... that's free speech.
DeNiro is still trying to make up for standing beside Elia Kazan at the Oscars years ago. While Scorcese stood tall (for him) on one side, DeNiro shook like a leaf on the other side. He’s nothing but a coward.
In the UK perhaps. In the U.S. treason is defined by the Constitution, and calling the president a nasty name doesn't qualify.
Winston Churchill once said something to the effect that if we want to enjoy the benefits of free speech then we need to be prepared to put up with some foolish speech. This is one of those times.

I think he’s just getting more and more upset as he sees more and more of his close friends getting picked up for human trafficking and pedophilia.
It may not be actual treason but the depth unearned hatred from Hollywood and so-called journalists is so alarming that I wonder about the possibility of brain damage from drug use and mental illness. The hatred is irrational. No one can cite anything that Trump has done justify what they say and write about this President. Only Abraham Lincoln was equally vilified by the press.
Maher and Deniro only convince rational and sane folks that the liberal cause is full of kooks.
I want them to speak more often, louder, they should be on billboards, tv, radio, psa announcements...same goes for athletes...keep talking....
The people that own the rights to old Deniro movies must be furious. That stuff now is totally worthless.

After all, what was aired was a bleeped version of the f-word. Go back thru FR archives and count the number of “FReep Yous!” and similar euphemisms before you toss too many stones.
De Niro like all the rest of the Hollywood Karl Marx children told what to say and do when working they like it so much they live their life that way.
