Where did the current policy of separating children from the parents during Illegal border crossings originate?
All I find when I search are it's all the Trump Administrations fault. Every search engine seems to come up nothing but the Left's viewpoint here.
Yet I have read someplace that these policies predate Trump.
So any help appreciated on information on this.
My personal view is that these so called "Refugees", and Illegals crossing the border are in violation immigration policy and should be arrested.
I am for sending these family's and children back to where they came from. Yet the Liberal's and Leftists feel we should have Open Borders and anyone come in.
In our own Legal System when a parent or parents are arrested that have underage children, if the child has no where to go, other family. Then that child is put into the State System of a shelter or Foster Care. No one ever talks about this and it happens every day.
So please enlighten me as to exactly where this policy of separating the families started, did it predate Trump or is something that is from his administration. Thanks.
The parents broke the law crossing the border illegally...they are separated.

I hope to hear some answers as well. I saw a NYT article but of course they excused all other administrations as not using this policy even though it was in existence. However, one article spoke of Obama getting an unfavorable ruling from a judge on this issue. I do not believe we are getting the truth, just propaganda.

What obozo did was separate the children— 600,000 of them and hid them allover the country so they will NEVER be reunited with their parents , where they belong— En MEXICO!!
It had to be in place in 2014 when the picture of those two children in a cage was taken....since at least Obozo.

I tried the search engines but got nothing but the Leftist take on things, one from a website called the Socialist World Order.
I would like to have some leads and facts so I can ascertain where it all begun. What little I did found indicates this might be a part of the Immigration Law that has never been enforced.
But I will wait and hope someone with more knowledge can explain.
Just watched a FOX News crawl state directly “President Trump falsely stated democrats caused the separation of families at the border, despite ....” Directly called the president a liar. Who’s writing this stuff?
It’s never been our policy to send children to jail with their parents. When adults accompanying children - adults who may or may not actually be related to the children- are arrested, when has any administration sent the children to jail with the adults? The adults are separated from the children and sent to adult facilities.
Do the libs want North Korean style camps where three or more generations are imprisoned together because of the “crimes” of just one person?

It is the same policy in the criminal justice system, yet the Left feels that these people coming in deserve special circumstances for crossing illegally.

This is a good analogy. This so-called issue is not worthy of much defense ... because this situation has always happened in societies throughout the world. When parents commit crimes their children have to be separated from their parents unless you want to put the children in jail.
Rush explained just that, that it’s been on the books all along but Obama didn’t use the law.
The only thing that’s changed is the new administration is following the policies congress established and is actually enforcing immigration laws, not making up new ones.
