The New York State Parole Board voted to release the man who murdered New York Transit Officer Sidney Thompson.
Robert Hayes, a member of the Black Panthers who murdered New York City Transit Police Officer Sidney Thompson in 1973 at 174th Street subway station during a gunfight on the platform, could be released from prison as soon as July 24, according to the New York Post.
Officer Thompson, 37, was attempting to stop a fare evader on June 5, 1973 when the suspects companion, Hayes, fatally shot the officer in the head, neck, and chest.
The officer, though mortally wounded, was able to return fire and wound Hayes friend, whom he was initially trying to arrest, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.
Hayes escaped after committing the murder, and went underground for several months, the New York Post reported.
He was found secreted in a Black Liberation Army hideout on Bronx Avenue, and opened fire on five officers with a sawed-off shotgun when they tried to arrest him.
Hayes wounded two additional officers during his capture and arrest, the New York Post reported. He was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.

Why is it that the media is okay with black separatist and black supremacist violence even when it perpetrates violence against upstanding black Americans?
The left openly admits that they think NO crime should get more than 15 years, even murder. They don’t dare say it out loud in the USA, but that’s what they think and that’s what they implement when they can.
Just so long as he never worked at a Chick-fil-A, because that is NOT the kind of thing tolerated in NY.
DeBlasio will welcome him with open arms. Problem is the bastard will probably not go back to NYC and come upstate.
Fixed it. When at war with an enemy ARMY, that is what you do.
This is disgusting...one of the parole members married a convicted murderer and had lobbied to get him parole...then Scumbag Cuomo appointed her to the parole board in 2017...NY State/City does NOT care for police lives...
Part of the black activists push to make black criminals immune from arrest and the Democrats are all behind it.
Nice criminal justice system you got there New York.
I see no way this guy should ever be released for what he did, even if he got 3-4 life sentences or the death penalty.
