ROSTOV-ON-DON, Russia (AP) The criticism of Mexicos national team heading into the World Cup was loud and scathing. The answer has been emphatic.
The Mexicans won their second straight match at the tournament, beating South Korea 2-1 Saturday to move ever closer to a spot in the round of 16.
We didnt listen to the criticism, said Javier Hernandez, one of the scorers against South Korea. It was just noise.

Maybe Trump should invite them to the White House....oh wait. Well hell they’re trying to get into this country, after all.
So what?
I hope mexico loses. I don’t want that sorry near 3rd world country to have any cause for celebration.
Since half of Mexico lives in the United States, WE WON!
What this article doesnt tell you is that the manager for Mexico is a Colombian and that was a big reason for the criticism.
Fans complain that Osorio is too analytical Profesor they call him, not entirely out of respect. They wave off the many teams Osorio has beaten as second rate, and fixate on the handful of games he has lost. Most of all, they complain that he is not Mexican.

So boring. Keep it out of USA!!
The World Cup is SO gay. I cannot understand why they permit the refs to extend the game as they see fit.
And winning matches with one on one penalty kicks. Really?
Yes Mexico looks good this year - it is really wide open but the usual suspects are headed to the 2nd round.
Nobody here cares about soccer.
If Sweden somehow defeated Mexico, Germany defeats South Korea, there are scenarios where Mexico might not advance.
You would think after today, Mexico and Germany would already be going through but it’s not all done yet. They probably will but the above link discusses it pretty fully. Even South Korea still has an outside chance.

Good for them! I didnt even know they were playing but good for them. A great earlier post pointed out that we actually won since half the population is here. Good for us.
I think Sweden matches up pretty well with Mexico. Germany just couldnt put the ball in net in the first two matches. Tony Kroos scores one of the most important goals in the history of the World Cup. Germany being eliminated in pool play would have been the biggest upset in pool play history.
So far, the best two players are Ronaldo for Portugal and Luka Modric for Croatia.
Im fairly sure that Real Madrid could defeat any of the National teams at the World Cup.
Officiating has been horrible. Lots of favoritism and blatant penalties ignored.
I hate to say it, but Mexico can win it all.
And I also suspect, most of the “Mexicans” in the stadium are actually from the US. There’s a reason that Mexico plays most of their “home” games in the US.
If my Poland bows out, as I think they will, I may start rooting for Croatia, they look really good.
Sweden had the chance to Kill the King, and they didn’t do it.
I felt if the game ended it a tie, Sweden and Mexico would have do an “agreement”, kind of like Austria and West Germany did in 1982.
