A billion dollar antiballistic radar system is being planned for development in Hawaii in order to counter nuclear ICBM threats from somewhere. Even though, at the present moment, there aren’t any threatening postures from nations with ICBM tech, the need to spend 1$ billion on detecting and combatting those ICBMs is apparently greater than ever before, at least according to some congressmen.

The system would be able to differentiate warheads from decoys on the potential incoming missiles launched towards the US before relaying the trajectory to interceptors in Alaska to take them out. The proposed radar would help identify long-range ballistic missile threats mid-way through flight.
Currently, the MDA is surveying two sites on the island of Oahu as the possible resting place of the radar that would be about 9 to 15 meters wide and 18 to 24 meters high, AP reported.

I was there during the January false alarm and that’s how I concluded it was wrong.
There was no National report, only Hawaii local report.
Since Hawaii doesn’t have its own launch detection system, I called BS.

Once a missle clears the Earth’s atmosphere, supposedly there is not much chance of stopping it’s warheads. From what I understand our present system is very iffy in its ability to shoot down descending warheads. Please refute this anyone, I hope it’s not so.

Nope, you are pretty much spot on. On its re-entry/terminal phase, it is moving past Mach 20 and practically impossible to hit with anything kinetic. Best time is to hit it shortly after launch or at the top of its arc.
My Navy friend here, lives across the street from Sara, and has spoken to her a couple times. She speaks good English. You know, the Philippine media are fake news specialists too, just like the American media. Don’t believe anything they say.

This is why we need an American space force. We need killer satellites that could knock out threats. The next arms race is space and other countries have crept up to America in space capability while the Kenyan gave NASA to Muslims.

Not true. The HAVE JEEP program, and the Eris, Heidi, and Hoe missiles proved early on the capability to intercept warheads.
