elderly Florida man was forced to cough up $10,000 to save his beloved cat after an acquaintance threatened to kill it unless he handed over the cash, reports said.
The 70-year-old victim, who was staying at a motel with two other friends in the small farming town of Immokalee, an hour outside Fort Myers, was approached by the acquaintance at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Fox 4 Now reported, citing a Lee County sheriff’s report.
The acquaintance demanded $10,000 and said he would kill the cat if he didn’t go to the bank and withdraw the money, the outlet said.
The victim told police his acquaintance has a long history of strong-armed robbery and was truly afraid his cat would be killed if he didn’t get the money.
So the victim, the would-be cat killer and one of the friends drove to a bank in Lehigh Acres about a half-hour northwest where the victim withdrew $13,000 and gave $10,000 to the suspect.
The three then went to a nearby phone store where the suspect and the victim’s friend bought cell phones, but it’s unclear for what purpose.
The victim later called deputies to report the incident and said there’s supposed to be a protection order involving the suspect but the victim was unsure if the papers had been served. It’s unclear why he didn’t originally report the man to police.
The victim said no weapon was ever displayed but that he was genuinely in fear and would like to press charges.
The claim is being investigated and it appears that the cat was unharmed.

Some psycho bitch stole the dog and then BLEACHED his black hair orange to hide the identity of the dog.
Then she claimed she found it, posted photos of the “bath” she gave it [actually, the bleaching process] and was trying to sell it.
The whereabouts of the dog are still unknown.

I know someone who is almost ridiculously caring of their animals, but treats people horribly. Not so sure about the philosophy that you can judge people by how they treat animals.
Good summary.
It has been my observation that adults treating animals nicely and humanely is not necessarily a reliable proxy for their quality as a person. As they say “Hitler liked dogs too”)
But I have found that adults who unnecessarily maltreat animals in any fashion are low quality people and should be avoided. (maltreat them as in throw things at them, kick them or curse them simply for being in proximity to them, etc.)
I have always found that to be quite a reliable indicator.
Real men hate cats. I always got a few around... sometimes I let the nice ones in the house. My feral killers live in the area.
People do not have cats, cats have people.
