In over three decades of working with computers on the job, I have learned one incontrovertible fact:

Every time advancing technology doubles the speed of your computer, your bosses are going to quadruple the number of reports they expect out of it.

The IBM PC (5150): The simplest configuration had 16K on-board RAM, used an audio cassette to load and save data - the floppy drive was optional, and a hard drive was not supported. Extra ram (64K, 128K and 256K) could be added. It used an Intel 8088 microprocessor with an 8bit external bus (16bit internal) running at 4.77Mhz.

LOL, probably so. The previous fastest at Oak Ridge (Titan) is a Cray, and it’s still fourth fastest in the world.

Check it out.

Not only is "Summit" significantly faster than "Sunway TaihuLight", it gets there with about 1/5 as many cores and just over half as much power.
