A huge amount of "UFO" videos were posted to YouTube this weekend regarding an object seen in the morning twilight skies over Florida on Friday morning. Popular UFO channels like Third Phase of the Moon reported it as a UFO incident. The real cause? A SpaceX launch of a Falcon 9 rocket carrying a Dragon capsule to orbit to deliver cargo and supplies to the International Space Station for CRS-15.
Despite some who think that "SpaceX is FakeX" and that all of spaceflight is a hoax (including a number of Freepers), the real hoax is the belief that this was a UFO and that the SpaceX launch was invented after the fact as an excuse. Third Phase himself tries to make this argument, claiming the launch was not announced ahead of time. Of course it was, which is why I drove out there that morning with my equipment to track the launch from the moment it came off the pad to the moment the second stage shut down occurred.

I knew this launch would cause a ruckus because of its timing; as the vehicle ascended past about 100 km altitude, it reached line of sight to the sun (thanks to the fact that earth is round, again in contradiction to certain freeper beliefs) illuminating the rocket and its exhaust against the dark background of the twilight sky. This is what caused the brilliant display and why the rocket suddenly increased in brightness dramatically towards the end of the first stage burn.

In the early 1980s, I was visiting my parents in Florida. Their land lies close to the Eglin AFB Reservation.
Late one evening, about dusk, I saw a quiet jet fly over at a low altitude. It had rounded wings just like the fake model stealth fighter which came out about then.
When the real one showed up it looked nothing like what I had seen. I still wonder what it was. It was not an F-4.
Was the goal here to write an informative vanity post, or just to take snarky potshots at “some freepers?” The post would have been better without the latter.
Free Republic would be better without certain flat earth/space-denying freepers who feel it is necessary to harass various articles about space.

I hold plenty of animosity towards willful anti-scientific ignorance and false accusations of fakery. I make no bones about that. I get accused of faking my footage all the time with the same kind of thinking that I see applied by certain freepers in space-related threads.
I had a Marine friend who did several parachute jumps over Elgin. He said there were hangars scattered out in the boonies away from the main base. During the day they were closed up and almost looked abandoned. At night they were lit up and all kinds of activity going on. One time going home from Mexico Beach, Florida to Mobile, Alabama traffic was blocked for several minutes on Hwy. 98 by Air Force MPs outside of Tyndall AF Base. They would not tell us why but the only thing it could have been was an aircraft they didn’t want anyone to see. As I recall we were held up for about 15 minutes. We never heard anything.
Sounds like you have the problem and not them.

I’m open to UFO’s, although I personally believe they are DEMONS.

Good job, you just furthered the left’s goal by defending literal anti-science and flat earthers on Free Republic. They couldn’t have a more useful set of idiots if they tried. Providing cover for actual anti-science and flat earthers because the left tries to paint you as one of them only helps their cause. I will gladly add you to my list of enemies though, no problem.

Earth is flat. No way rockets go into space and hook up with a space station when the earth is supposed to be moving at hundreds of thousands of miles an hour.
Its all bs to hide God and his creation.

Rockets are going to space, the space station is real, and there is nothing you can do to stop me from uploading videos like this which prove it.
