This hilarious KFC soccer commercial looks exactly like Neymar's flopping

Much has been made of Neymar’s flopping during this World Cup. Brazil’s superstar has spent plenty of time on the ground writhing in agony — some warranted and some very much not. And his antics look a lot like a KFC South Africa commercial that was released upon the start of this year’s tournament.

Neymar has spent 14 minutes on the ground Perhaps the most impressive advanced stat of this World Cup has been provided by Swiss TV station RTS Sport. According to RTS’ math, Neymar has spent 14 minutes’ worth of game time on the ground. Neymar has also drawn the most fouls in the tournament, including a record 10 against Switzerland.

I like soccer. But this flopping business has gotten really lame. You seem to see it more in the international game than you do here during MLS games.

I don’t know what the solution is. Maybe one is that a player who rolls around on the ground likes he was bayoneted and then gets up and is walking normally needs to be forced into subbing out for a new player. Being that both teams are limited to only a few substitutions in a game, this might help reduce the theatrics. A yellow card is another option, I guess.

The fix is simple

Allow teams to call an injury time-out which halts the game clock. Allow the teams to decide when to call time-in. When the time-in is called, the game clock and play starts again.

If the time between time-out and time-in is less than 30 seconds, the player is required to remain off the field for 1 min after the time-in. No substitution is allowed.

If the time between time-out and time-in is greater than 30 seconds, the player is removed from the game and must be replaced if a substitution is available. If no substitution is available, then the team must play the remainder of the match short handed.

“I don’t know what the solution is.”

Come to the game with scoring cards like in figure skating. After the flop, hold up cards with his score. Have people do that for a season and it will make a mockery of the act. That will end it.

Start issuing more yellow cards for flopping.

Is this a possible solution...?

Next time Neymar flops, do a Hulk Hogan elbow drop on his head.

Ooops, I slipped ref.

5.56mm

If he is going to flop, then make him really hurt. A few elbows to the face, or a well placed knee, to make him and other floppers feel real pain would be worth the yellow card. If a flopper is going down, then get your money’s worth when sending him down.

in the NHL you can be penalized for taking a dive in an attempt to draw a penalty. 2-minutes for “embellishment”. Guys will take a dive on a hook or a trip, maybe interference...but you’d be laughed out of the league for the soccer-style theatrics.

Easy- suspend the players who do it for a few games without pay- it’ll stop

I think that you people simply don’t appreciate the conditioning and self sacrifice that a soccer player commits to in his career.

If you saw an NFL, NBA, NHL player go down like that, writhing in pain, this would indicate a season ending, possibly career ending injury.

These high level soccer stars endure multiple career ending injuries.... each GAME! And still they persevere through the pain and then heal, with preternatural swiftness.

It is miraculous, actually.
