Theoretically, ALL females are a “protected class”, there is a good survival instinct at work there. In practice, certain groups are excluded because they do not represent the attitudes of the herd.
Unfortunately, there is little wisdom in development of the attitudes of the herd, and in stampede, all wisdom is discarded entirely.
We are being stampeded into believing that some threat exists, while in fact, it is totally fabricated, and used to steer the herd over one cliff or another. Those in the herd that do not agree to go along with the direction of the stampede are either goaded back into conformity, or are overwhelmed by the apparently implacable nature of those flowing with the crowd.
But sometimes, the herd DOES turn before it plunges over into the abyss. That is what is happening right now, with the head bull buffalo perceiving the danger lying in the herd’s path and making the turn away that will preserve the great bulk of the herd. Further back in the ranks, though, it may be harder to respond to this change.
