Confederate flag coming back to the South Carolina State House on Tuesday

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Confederate flag is coming back to the S.C. State House, at least for one day.

On Tuesday, members of the S.C. Secessionist Party will raise the rebel banner on a temporary pole in front of the Gervais Street steps.

The 10 a.m. ceremony will mark the three-year anniversary of the flag's permanent removal from the State House grounds.

This is the third time the party has raised the flag in front of the State House. Each July 10 since the flag was removed, the party has been permitted to put the flag back up in the same spot near the Confederate soldiers' monument where the flag was displayed from 2000 to 2015.

The Confederate Flag should be back up Permanently. That Flag doesn’t represent Slavery. It is a part of History and needs to be treated with respect.

I agree 100% Atomic , the confederate flag (from what I understand) was a symbol of “STATES” rights and at that time the southern states were the big boys as far as generating trade income with cotton and they wanted to keep it that way. The PC garbage is just steam rolling over what we as a republic went through to get to where we are . The civil war was brutal and I wouldn’t wish it on any country but it happened here and to remove statues and just trying to remove what occured is absurd and wrong...peoples feelings can go to hell.

Indeed.

The Democrat Thug Party aims to erase history for no good reason other than to serve its perceived opportunities.

Forces in the nation have been long at work re-writing, or at best amending history.
After the war the events at Jamestown were all but scrubbed from the educational text books.

Were the year 1859, students of history have been very well acquainted with the importance of Jamestown.

(US history trivia (but quite telling) - how many college grads (w/a minimum bachelor’s) can tell you where Pocahontas is buried? Out of 1,000 I’d say one, maybe - on a very good day) :-(

I went down to the SC Statehouse on the morning of the day the flag came down after the Nikki Haley over-reaction to the Charleston church shootings.

I remember the dead calm that morning, there was absolutely no breeze and all the flags just hung there totally limp.

there was the atmosphere of an impending party. Certain people were out in lawn chairs. I bumped into Jesse Jackson Sr... I asked him how (felon) Jesse Jr. was doing, he didn’t offer a response. Must have been the sarcastic tone of my voice in the question...

Maybe I’ll stop by for today’s event to tweak that negative memory of the last one.

Amen. The Leftists/PCers want to rewrite history to suit their political dogma. George Orwell told us all why they do this back in the 1940s. Leftists haven’t changed since then.

On a side note, I will work against Nikki Haley for as long as she is in politics. I’d sooner vote for a Democrat than her.
