Director James Gunn has been dropped from Disney’s Marvel franchise “Guardians of the Galaxy” over old tweets.
“The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him,” said Alan Horn, chairman of Walt Disney Studios, in a statement.
Gunn, the writer-director of Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, apologized late Thursday after a series of old (now deleted) tweets resurfaced in which the filmmaker made what he admitted were “offensive” jokes about taboo topics like rape and pedophilia.

I have a Twitter account, but I haven’t been on it in months.
I’m retired, but if I was still working, I’d make sure I wasn’t on ANY social media (except FR, of course).
Job accomplishment, knowledge, and great work ethic can be all superseded by some, 20-year-old comment, or joke, on the internet.

This really is a shame because the guy was a despicable liberal but he had an absolute magic touch with those movies. I was really looking forward to the final guardians of the Galaxy movie.

For over 20 years I have been telling clients and family do not put anything on the Internet that you would not want to be read by your family, employers and anyone else for the rest of your life.

Yeah, they have been doing that since 1991 with Beauty and the Beast (The Little Mermaid was closer to Walt Disney’s values to be honest. Heck, if anything, the script for the film we got, barring the Die Hard-esque ending, was actually pretty close to what Walt himself envisioned by sheer coincidence).
