Trump's Russia Advisor Fiona Hill Was One of the Only Women with him in Helsinki. What to Know.

Fiona Hill currently serves as the senior director for Russian and European Affairs on the National Security Council. She was part of the U.S. delegation at the table on Monday along with White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, National Security Adviser John Bolton, and interpreter Marina Gross.

The British-born Russia expert left the Brookings Institution, a D.C. think tank, to join the Trump administration last year...Hill was initially tapped to join the National Security Council under Michael Flynn's leadership.

The psychological profile of Putin she co-authored with Clifford G. Gaddy, Mr. Putin: Operative in the Kremlin, offers a glimpse into how she views the Russian leader.

The duo wrote that the Kremlin is “a master at manipulating information, suppressing information, and creating pseudo-information” who isn't afraid to blackmail other foreign leaders. "As he can fully trust only himself, Putin applies extortionary methods to everyone else — basically mutually assured incrimination to ensure loyalty," they write.

Hill and Gaddy identified six separate personas Putin demonstrates: the Statist, the History Man, the Survivalist, the Outsider, the Free Marketeer and the Case Officer.”

The persona that Hill and Gaddy describe as being the most dangerous is the Case Officer. Putin learned how to read people and identify their vulnerabilities during his 15 years as a KGB officer.

Hill and Gaddy explain that the fall of the Soviet Union, and Russia’s struggle to rebuild in the 1990s, instilled in Putin a fierce desire to make Russia a dominating force once again and get vengeance on the West for pushing his nation down in the first place.

Quoting Putin from his first year in office:

“In order to work with people effectively, you have to be able to establish a dialogue and bring out the best in your partner. If you want to achieve the result you have to respect your partner. And to respect means to recognize that he is in some way better than you are. You should make that person an ally, make him feel that there is something that unites you, that you have some common goals. That skill I think is the most important skill.”

I think her being on board further proves that Mr. Trump knows what he is doing when dealing with Putin. And if anyone is being played, it’s Putin.

Not being played. Trump wants an honest conversation with him. The Dems don’t, because they are so politically invested in their failed “reset” and “I’ll be freer after the elections” theme that they honestly don’t want an honest assessment of this.

Trump and Putin get along just fine. Putin is stating openly that Trump is being sabotaged by the Deep State in his effort to build a mutually productive relationship.

This article seems to have an anti-Putin bias.

It says “Hill and Gaddy explain that the fall of the Soviet Union, and Russia’s struggle to rebuild in the 1990s, instilled in Putin a fierce desire to make Russia a dominating force once again and get vengeance on the West for pushing his nation down in the first place.”

But the article says, seemingly to support that claim, support that, has a very neutral bit quoted from Putin:

“In order to work with people effectively, you have to be able to establish a dialogue and bring out the best in your partner. If you want to achieve the result you have to respect your partner. And to respect means to recognize that he is in some way better than you are. You should make that person an ally, make him feel that there is something that unites you, that you have some common goals. That skill I think is the most important skill.”

Fiona Hill’s lectures and interviews are accessible on youtube. She unpacks the intricacies of corruption in the Kremlin, but is very fair-minded and stresses the value of finding common ground with Russia.

I think the fact Michael Flynn brought her on proves he was not a colluder and not interested in appeasement when dealing with Kremlin, but skill and tact.

I see nothing wrong with that attitude.

...who isn’t afraid to blackmail other foreign leaders...

So why wouldn’t he want Hillary to be president not Trump?

I like that quote because Trump seems to apply it with Putin especially. Trump understands nuances of personality/culture. So he works differently with Xi Jinping than he does with Putin...with Kim Jong Un than with Saudi king etc...

But here is another quote:

It is not money that guarantees loyalty or holds the top level together. Instead, it is the fact that the money derives from activity that is or could be found to be illegal. Participants in the system are not bought off in the classic sense of that term. They are compromised; they are made vulnerable to threats. Corrupt, even illegal, activity will be kept secret as long as the individual continues to play the game.” And the referee and star player is Putin himself. This is not an old-boy network, but a “one-boy network.”

The Kremlin was far more prepared for a Hillary win than Trump. This is true.

Some claim she’s a Soros mole.

Incredibly McMaster has also recruited a former Soros staffer from his Open Society Institute, Fiona Hill, as the NSC’s expert on Russia. Hill has been pressuring the Hungarian and Romanian governments to stop their resistance to Soros efforts to undermine those democratically elected governments

I notice your screen name...to me, Condoleeza Rice was one of our best people, and she commanded respect. She knew who she was. Russians respond to that, and that’s why they like Trump.

If the Intelligence Bureaucracy was half as smart as they think they are the world would be in much better shape.

I think she’s saying if you want a friend in Moscow it’s best to get a dog.

Where have I heard that sentiment before?

Some claim she’s a Soros mole.

I think it's telling the lamestream media does not cover her very much. Even the articles above are restrained in their affirmation of her. They don't want to admit that Trump has one of their 'respectable' own on his team. She is from Brookings, served under Mike Flynn's team initially, and her views are no secret. Her goal is achieving positive, mutually beneficial communication with Russia. Not fomenting coup in Moscow.
