EU Commissioner Juncker: Dear Donald, Let us Remember our Common History
European Commission ^ | 25 July 2018 | Jean-Claude Juncker

Posted on 07/29/2018 4:15:35 PM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

First, I want to pay tribute to Mr Brookins and all other American soldiers for their courage and bravery. We are forever grateful. I offered as a gift to President Trump a photo of a military cemetery in Luxembourg, where General Patton is buried, with the inscription with a word saying: Dear Donald, let us remember our common history. And we should do that even in more difficult times.

After World War Two, the generation of our parents and grandparents vowed: Never again. Together, they laid the foundation for our security and prosperity through Atlantic cooperation. The Marshall Plan helped to rebuild our communities. NATO helped to ensure our collective security.

Throughout that time, the United States has always been our strongest ally and a supporter of European integration. As far back as 1953, President Eisenhower wrote: 'The uniting of Europe is a necessity for the peace and prosperity of Europeans and of the world.' This is our raison d'être today as much as it was 65 years ago.

Together, we overcame an empire that challenged our vision. Thanks to the U.S., peace was restored and the transatlantic relationship became the anchor of global stability and prosperity. And it is as indispensable today as it ever was before.

And nowhere is this more important than when it comes to trade. The economic relationship between the United States and Europe is the largest and most important in the world.

Ladies and gentlemen, Europe is prepared to work with all like-minded partners to create new opportunities and to improve the global system itself. This is why I came to Washington today. Not to give unsolicited advice but to offer increased cooperation.

We agree with President Trump that there is a lot that needs to change...

President Trump's opening bid and his negotiating position are, perhaps, paying dividends. If Juncker is trying flattery but plans to continue unequal tariffs on American products, then Europe will lose (we lose too, but their loss is what scares them). If Juncker is sincere and the end result is fair trade, that will be another big win that helps Make America Great Again.

Jean-Claude Juncker .... this pos is Angela Merkel’s EU bureaucrat enforcer for open borders. Two demented souls. Thankfully Hungary, Poland and few others toughed it out and did not bend on the Muslim hordes invasion to Jean-Claude Juncker

Touching rhetoric. Yet reality intrudes. The fact is that if Western Europeans are unwilling to secure their own borders, are indifferent to their own cultural heritage and won’t spend their own funds to fairly finance NATO, they really should not expect Americans to yet again sacrifice blood and treasure on their behalf. Nor should they expect a chronic subsidy of their economies with unfavorable trade deals.

Bullcrap. Stop stepping on the backs of our WWII dead in an emotional attempt to guilt Americans into supporting the nasty expansionist, globalist, anti-American, EU agenda. Show your sincere gratitude by not sodomizing American products with abusive tariffs, and by stopping the islamist invasion and the rampant anti-Americanism.

This SOB isn’t fit to shine Ike’s shoes.

eu, like the effeminate trudeau, attempting to use past historical events to justify continually ripping off the American consumer.

Ok then stop screwing around with slanted trade deal, start carrying your share of defense spending and quit playing footsie with the Iranian Mullahs.

Start being allies instead of parasites Germany/France/Spain, Italy etc.

Our common history is, Europe starts wars, we have to get involved to stop them, then taxpayers are left rebuilding your eurotrash towns. When no tariffs is seen as unfair, let them rot.

I agree...so much damage to our relationship already done. But honestly: even the rhetorical acknowledgment of America’s WWII and Cold War contributions is a step forward in my book.
