News as Everyday Dog (bleep)

Every day I take my dog out for a walk. I actually do it twice a day. It is first thing in the morning and at the end of the day after the evening meal. We live on the beach, and there is a nice long park right in front of the house (it is a boardwalk) with an absolutely magnificent view of the ocean and the skyscrapers of Macao in the distance. While we are out there enjoying the morning air and watching the joggers on the beach, our dog is nose-to-the-ground and smelling everything like a canine vacuum cleaner. He really enjoys it. He cannot wait to smell the latest news on the road, and contribute a post or two of his own.

Every morning, I too much check out the latest news. However, as of late it is so boring and predictable that I just simply scan the headlines. It’s always the same old news, just repackaged. Buy more stuff! Support a war! Be afraid! Hate Trump! Pay higher taxes! Oh, and don’t forget Global Warming! Russia! Russia! Russia!

Are we any different? Humans are just as bad as canines. This has gotten me thinking… About Dogs

I personally like dogs. While I am, I suppose, a “cat person”, dogs are very special to me personally. There is nothing better than coming home from work, and my loyal buddy (Shao PiPi) is lying down at the door waiting for me. (I know, my wife takes photos to show me. He gets in position about a half an hour before I

Funny. I made the same observation earlier this morning. Same Shit Different Day. I have hit a wall. Stupid Liberals pulling the same Stupid and pointless crap while the feckless Republicants can’t seem to find their keisters while in a room lined with mirrors, even with someone with a laser pointer trying to give them a clue.

In a sense, we check the news every day to see if there’s been a space shuttle crash, 9/11 or attack on pearl harbor. Every decade or so we are rewarded. The rest of the time, not so much.

I stumbled on this a few days ago. I thought it was hilarious, and well-written.

They guy is a bit utopian in his view of China, but overall he makes sense. And the two dogs-with-a-barking-collar story is a riot.

His writings on growing up in traditional America are really good. I think he lives in China now.

My better half actually took it a step further yesterday, engaging me in a discussion about what effect the daily barrage of insanity called "the news" is having on my mental health and pursuit of happiness.

I'm not yet on the verge of a psychological breakdown; but I was asked, after another rant about the left seemingly running amok with little or no pushback from the normal guys (other than PJDT), "so, what are you accomplishing, other than elevating your stress level and blood pressure?"

The point was well taken. I'm not running for office, protesting in the streets, writing letters to the editor, or verbally bitch-slapping liberal morons when I encounter them, etc.

I'm just, every day it seems, getting worked up and complaining about things...and to what end?

Yeah but when I smell a new stormy “post” this old dog really gets his tail wagging.

“No pushback from the normal guys”

I see your problem. You have been conned into regarding them as “normal.” There is a famous quote from Ruskin, “1000s can do for one who can think and 100s can think for one who can see.” What DJT has done is looked at the situation, seen how out of sorts the times are, and made the DS curse the spite that he was born to set it right.

He has the right advise, generally, about the media.

Turn off and get rid of your TV. Your life will be better.

To what end? To show up with enthusiasm at the polls on November 6 to declare with your vote that you approve of the policies of this President, and to encourage all the like-minded Trump supporters to do likewise. This is a crucial election to save his presidency, and the Democrats will cheat, as always.

I’ve actually been much happier since I stopped watching the “News” (cable noise) altogether, yes, even Fox. I will watch the local channels for the weather only.

I understand where you are, buddy. I have been tuning out the “news” for a few days, now. Just checking the headlines, hoping to see a report of some Anti-America maggot buying the farm, or being taken into custody of some patriotic Federal Marshals to no avail.

Had a morning appointment with my sawbones and my blood pressure was 110 over 60. I think that I’m on the right track. Will be snapping in for a couple of hours. Putting some rounds down range is always a good stress reliever.

I sometimes get all worked up like that. I seem to have a need to watch NBC/Lester Holt show at 5:30 p.m. central time, just to see what BS is being broadcast to the masses each day. Then might see a little Tucker or Hannity, but have a personal rule to NOT watch any of that political stuff after 9 p.m. So usually change out to House Hunters or American Pickers. Forensic Files is great for falling asleep, because it is so monotone.

Sounds like you might think about unplugging for awhile, or at least limiting your exposure. Go for a walk or work on the yard, do a crossword on the porch.

Hope you feel better soon.

Ill go one further I don’t watch broadcast news or listen to radio news at all. I get news from the internet and leave it at that.
Obsession is not good for us!
