In Soviet echo, Putin gives Russian army a political wing
Reuters ^ | July 31, 2018 | Andrew Osborn

Vladimir Putin has created a new directorate inside the Russian army to promote patriotism, evoking memories of a Soviet practice that once saw soldiers taught the precepts of Marxism and Leninism by political commissars.

The move, approved by Putin in a presidential decree published on Monday, will affect Russia’s around 1 million active military service people and appears designed to ensure soldiers’ loyalty at a time when Moscow is locked in a geopolitical standoff with the West.

Putin ‘Stayin Alive’.

Notice when he walks that his right arm doesn’t swing.

KGB training. Makes it quicker to grab his Makarov if he has to.

Reuters - more blather.

They aren’t teaching communism. They are teaching patriotism, and Judeo Christian ethics.

Like we used to.

Horrifying - oh noes - the sky is falling.

Lol. In America, Democratic Party has already given MSM and FBI/CIA a political wing.

The sky isn’t falling. In fact, the sky has never been in danger of falling, thanks to a few thousand ICBM’s we have in reserve in case any danger of that arises. Rather, what this article illustrates is that you can take the man out of the KGB, but you can’t take the KGB out of the man.

Liberals’ propaganda machine knows how to let Russophobe nuts get a thrill up their legs.

So America has to rely on “no political bias” FBI/CIA.

Obvious there’s no way to take “Russia, russia, russia” out of media’s coverage, as long as Trump doesn’t get impeached.

Trump brought it on himself. He could have toed the standard GOP line in public about Russia, a country that has occupied a large chunk of Ukraine. Given that this chunk is larger than Great Britain and roughly twice the size of South Korea, it’s not a trivial matter. If he had merely funneled large amounts of weaponry to Ukraine to help it regain the East, all of this would be water under the bridge now. He would be able to spit in his critics eyes and point out that if he’s Putin’s friend, Putin doesn’t need enemies. But this was the road not taken.

ZAMPOLIT:

The dirty political FINK RAT who grades everyone on their socialist correctness, or suddenly shoots in the back those commanders who give sound tactical orfders that somehow contradict in some very trivial way the unreasonable orders of some lefty stuff-shirt thousands of miles away and who has never fired any firearm.

Better than our wing of the military that is dedicated to promote perversion, atheism, and trannies.

Yeah, if Trump would have toed the GOPe, McCain, Neuland, EU, Obama line on Ukraine, supported an EU inspired coup, and given hundreds of millions of US taxpayer dollars to the coup government to allow it to try to gain control over all of Ukraine...all of this could have been avoided and no one would be after him.

They’d be after him over Russia, but no one would believe it, after he kicked Putin’s minions out of Ukraine back to Russia. Instead, Trump chose to slobber all over Putin. The time to be magnanimous to Putin is *after* you’ve kicked his ass, not before. Reagan was nice to Gorbachev *after* he took the Berlin Wall down, not before. And Putin is no Gorbachev. Gorbachev withdrew from Afghanistan. Putin invaded Ukraine.

"all of this would be water under the bridge now." / / Lol. A good old liberal mob tactic: if you are not what you are accused of being, prove it! Democrats and McCain are not as stupid as right wing Russophobe nuts. Until Trump is forced to be a kamikaze, hit the Russia and destroy himself. They wouldn't give it a rest.

How is this liberal? Italian-Americans proved that they were loyal to the US rather than Italy by fighting Italian troops in Italy. German-Americans proved that they were loyal by burning German cities to the ground. Carl Spaatz nor Dwight Eisenhower proved that they were American, not German, via their enthusiastic participation in attacks on both German troop concentrations and cities. Proving loyalty in this manner is not only not “liberal” - it’s the only proof that counts.

What is “liberal” is talking tough and doing nothing - essentially the Democratic position right now on Russia. Do you hear them talking about more equipment aid to Ukraine? No. That’s because the liberal base is basically *liberal*, and Russia-loving except when it comes to using Russia as a stick against the GOP.

Trump has approved the lethal weapons to Ukraine, but liberals don’t give up screaming, you don’t give up whining.
You claim it’s not liberal tactic?

I said Ukraine needs to make measurable gains in driving Russia out of Ukraine *and* Trump needs to stop slobbering all over Putin. If you want to show that you’re not in Al Capone’s pocket, it doesn’t help to invite him to a meeting where you say nice things about him. And it also helps to make measurable gains against Al’s organization.

In 1986, we sent $650m in lethal aid that included Stinger missiles to the Afghan rebels. In inflation-adjusted terms, that’s $1.5b today. If we had provided Ukraine with $1.5b in fighter-bombers, tanks, artillery and other equipment, there might not be Russian troops in Ukraine today. Russia is a big issue because it sits in occupation of a slice of Ukraine the size of Britain or the combined Koreas. Without that occupation, Russia becomes just another annoying authoritarian state we humor.

Should others demand you to go to Ukraine fighting against pro Russia militants, to prove you are not a “talking tough doing nothing” liberal?

Sorry, Trump is not very loyal to Ukraine. He needs the money to build the wall for America.

You should vote for Biden. His son is working for Kyiv government.

The difference between liberals and conservatives isn’t whether they show up personally with rifles in Ukraine - it’s whether they support lethal aid to Ukraine. Conservatives do. Liberals don’t. Trump supports border controls by pushing for a wall, not by building the wall personally with his own hands. He could demonstrate that he’s not in Putin’s pocket by kicking Putin’s ass through a push for much bigger lethal aid packages to Ukraine.

Maybe you demonstrate that you’re completely uninvolved with Mafia thugs by inviting them to public events and fawning all over them. Most people don’t.

I do not understand the point of the event with Putin, because it did nothing but harm to his poll numbers, which should be above 50% because of the economy. But Trump is the master of self-sabotage. He has mistaken his lucky break from his Hail Mary play in the Rust Belt states for political omnicompetence.
