What began with a quick grab-and-go theft Saturday at the San Antonio Aquarium -- the suspect leaving a trail of water drops as he hurried away with his dripping prize of a small but very much alive shark -- ended Monday with the safe return of "Miss Helen" to her tank at the aquarium. The 16-inch female horn shark was taken during a heist that aquarium officials said was no spur-of-the-moment, let's-steal-a-shark thing. "The suspects staked out the pool for more than an hour" to wait for the right moment, the aquarium said in a statement. The search for the young female shark, known to aquarium staff as Miss Helen, led police Monday to the home of a man who maintains an extensive collection of marine life, according to the police chief of the San Antonio suburb where the aquarium is located.

This guy is nuts. Risking jail time for a private aquarium? Talk about being out of focus.

Hope the other marine life did not suffer from the chlorine he poured into their tank.

A fish?

They stole a fish?

They spent time coming up with a plan to steal a fish?

They risked prison to steal a fish?

I blame this on those Jacques Cousteau specials.

99% of criminals are stupid opportunists by nature, That is great because the minimize damage and get caught. I fear smart criminals like the Unibomber and the Sacramento East Area rapist. They have the intelligence and patience to cause mass damage and go uncaught for decades. Your garden variety criminal is moron level intelligence.

Especially a fish that can be found off the coast of California... it’s not from some place exotic.

Correct.

And then there are the genuinely intelligent ones who not only are never caught, but the crime is never found out. I mean how many times as some odd some of money just ‘vanished’ in the labyrinthine accounting systems of some massive corporation or governmental agency? You know, a misplaced comma here, a phony account for merely a few million at the Pentagon that never gets even noticed.

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
Though the fish is stolen
Keep that stroller rollin',
Sharkhide!

Don't try to understand him
Just grab, wrap and nab him.
In our fish tank soon he'll bide...

"Dude, where's the shark?"

"In the stroller, next to the baby."

"Uh, there's no baby in that stroller."

"Uh oh."
