The people on the stage and later the troops on the ground that broke ranks and scattered did not seem to be reacting to any event in their local area, like a drone crashing to the ground or such. They just panicked.
Maduro sounds like a drone himself, btw.

Actually, I have done a lot of translating about Latin American guerrilla bands (FARC,etc) and the propane tank was a weapon of choice. The tanks are used for cooking throughout Latin America so they’re easy to come by. They’d put them onto a launcher and send them at a target (a military unit, a police car or a just a private house) and, while they couldn’t go enormously far and weren’t enormously accurate, they blew up and did the job.
I doubt that this was a drone, because they’re pretty accurate, and in any case, they’re hard to see. The soldiers were running because they saw something and they were running away from where they thought it would land.
It looks to me as if the tank overshot and crashed into a building before it exploded. Or those photos may simply have been of the place from which it was launched and it failed to explode at all.

Maduro has run out of excuses for the epic failure in the country. Chavez was just getting started with the country's downfall. Maduro is driving the final spikes into the coffin.
For a long time it was alleged US interference that was causing the country to sink. But all that followed were empty grocery shelves and no toilet paper next to the commode.
Inflation is supposed to reach 1,000,000% this year. And Maduro finally had to admit this last week that socialism isn't working.
So the gig is up. I suspect this "assassination" attempt was faked to place blame for his failures and curry sympathy from the masses. 'Cause Nicolás ain't got nothing else.
Maduro says the "drone" (which nobody can prove the existence of) was sent by Columbia. Does he realize that Columbia, along with Ecuador, have taken in 1.3 million Venezuelan economic refugees in 2018 so far?
The finale will be Maduro seeking safe harbor with Castro in Cuba. Or he really will be successfully assassinated.
Or he will start murdering off his opposition, leaders first, then the followers, to consolidate his power.
I don't see how Venezuela can keep the lights on much longer. But critics like me have been saying the same thing for years. Maybe Maduro will endure.
My money is on him stealing a big hunk of the treasury and leaving out the back door in the middle of the night to a safe haven before the public murders him.
