I always liked this version:

Now just to note that she is older than me. She had one the cutest faces to ever exist. And there was a lot of puppy love going around for Marie. But at last she lived on the morning side of the mountain, and I lived on the Twilight side of the hill.

Possibly Anita Bryant.

Wow. Thanks for posting that. I had a degree of contempt as a teenager for the Osmonds, but that girl could sing. That was nice.

Funny thing is, she doesn’t look all that different.

Nice find and I remember the days when songs like that got played on Top 40 radio. She does have great talent and hard to believe she was only 14 years old in this video. She looks like a full grown woman. 45 years later, she’s hardly aged at all. A testament to clean living.

As I get older it is increasingly more difficult to tell how old someone else is. She may have been 14 - and she certainly looks young - but is so poised I would have never guessed she was only 14.

The best part of the Twilight Side of the Hill is when the Deep Purple falls over sleepy garden walls, and the stars begin to twinkle in the sky.

(I found it crrepy that a brother and sister act would sing such a romantic song together).

Morning Side of the Mountain

Late in 1974, Donny & Marie Osmond released a version of the song which hit number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent one week at number one on the Easy Listening chart. The song charted equally well in Canada.

It was a time when not everyone was thinking the worst. And it was a much better time. How many family acts even exist today.

Just a little over two years later, when Marie was just 16, she and Donny (then 18) got their own TV show. (It ran from January 1976 to January 1979 on ABC.)

“I’m a little bit country:
“I’m a little bit rock and roll.”

Morning Side of the Mountain
I'm familiar with "Morning Side of the Mountain", which is sung in third person, and hence is not at all creepy. I was referring to them performing "Deep Purple", which is sung in first person
