Yep. Did that myself. bought a couple of extra batteries and have a system to make sure there are two charged all the time. Ethanol ruined a couple of weedeaters for me (internal parts, too...) and I decided to call it quits and go to batteries. I have a big yard, so I put one on the trimmer, and one in my pocket.
No more Pull...blub blub...Pull harder...blub blub...check switch, pull again... blub blub...
Now, it’s just, Click...whhirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Lowes and Homey Depot sell Ethanol-Free gas.
The Ethanol-free gas comes in quart cans in the mower section, with or without pre-mixed oil.

Or you can buy it at any major race track.
Be sure to bring cans though; they will not let you pump gas into a highway vehicle from those pumps.

The alcohol is only 15% of the fuel.
But you do definitely need a graduated draft glass vessel to separate the stuff.
+2 on Tygon. I use it for fuel and brake fluid (static pressure)on all my motorcycles
Plus in an emergency you can set yourself up to recharge those batteries and others via mr sun. you may not always be able to get gas, or fresh gas.

Thanks for that information. I’ve avoided larger battery powered tools because of battery replacement cost.
I switched to Li-Ion battery powered system. The brand is called EGO. Self-propelled lawn mower, backpack blower, hedge trimmer, and weed whacker. I have solar panels charging 12V batteries rated at 400 amps. I then use a DC-AC inverter to recharge the Li-Ion batteries.
BTW, I also have Black and Decker Li-Ion chain saws and weed whackers(for small jobs). If you have Porter Cable Li-Ion tools, those batteries can be used in Black and Decker products with a minor alteration.
Now that said you can destroy them. Not leavijg them in the hot or freezing car is a good start. They have smarts for charging and discharging, but follow tool recommendations as far as when to swap them out, and whether or not you can safely leave them in tools without the particular tool, when off, draining them so slowly the discharge circuitry doesnt kick in to stop it. These are the extremes.
You also want to consider the tool makers with a large selection of tools to maximize battery usage ability and minimize different types of batteries you need to buy.
