President Trump criticized Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday and revealed the only reason he hired him for the job to begin with.
In an interview broadcast Thursday morning on “Fox and Friends,” Trump tells anchor Ainsley Earhardt that Sessions was never able to take control over the DOJ.
“The Dems are very strong in the Justice Department," Trump said during the interview. "And I put in an attorney general that never took control of the Justice Department, Jeff Sessions. Never took control of the Justice Department.
“It’s sort of an incredible thing,” he added.
He then renewed his criticism of Sessions over his recusal from the Russia investigation.
“Jeff Sessions recused himself, which he shouldn’t have done, or he should have told me,” Trump said. “He took my job, and then he said, ‘I’m going to recuse myself.’ I said, ‘What kind of man is this?’”
The president explained the only reason he gave Sessions the job was because of his loyalty when his campaign first launched.
"The only reason I gave him the job is because I felt loyalty," Trump said Thursday. "He was an original supporter."
Sessions, then a Republican senator from Alabama, was one of the earliest and biggest names to support Trump during the Republican primary.

Sessions is an epic failure. Sessions hid his true nature with great skill. I wish that Jeff Sessions experiences betrayal 10 fold worse than he has betrayed America.

Just step down already, Sessions. Trump has zero confidence in you. He can’t fire you because the Dems would try to impeach him for it. Do the right thing and step down.

In general...up until that election cycle....both Sessions and Shelby are fake GOP guys....pretending to be Republicans. After the Reagan era, it was just about impossible to get elected to the Senate from the state as a Democrat....so you go out and ID yourself as GOP and just fake people out. Probably half the GOP in Montgomery fill the same type of shoes for the GOP. I think even the former governor (Bentley) was likely a Democratic pretending to be a Republican.
For about the 10 millionth time, the House will impeach Trump if he fires Sessions because that will be interpreted as obstruction of justice. The Senate has told Trump if he fires Sessions, they will not vote on his replacement. Understand now?
Politically he can’t fire him. Yet. After the election and after Kavanaugh is confirmed the Three Stooges will all be gone.
